The Albér battery monitoring system offers themost precise method of monitoring that ensuresbattery system reliability when it matters most.

The monitors measure cell or block voltage,ambient temperature and discharge current24x7x365. The monitor performs automaticinternal resistance tests on regular intervals.

This data allows the user to detect at an early stagethe battery failure even before it becomes a realfailure and in effect help them optimize the usefulbattery life. The system alarm on conditions outsideset thresholds and communicate to users via theAlbér Monitor software or via Modbus or SNMP tothird party systems or building managementsystems. Communication is via network card,modem or serial port.

Without a properly operating battery system, noUPS can do its job. And without adequate power back upyour operations are at risk. The only proven way to ensurethe reliability of the battery system is to install a batterymonitoring system. This system continually monitors thebatteries' critical parameter 24/7, the float voltage,temperature, current, inter-cell resistance and internalresistance. The monitoring system also logs dischargehistory and provides data for trending that are used todetect problems before they become real failures. EmersonNetwork Power will provide you with a detailed andprofessional report which will contain all the findingsthat our monitoring system has along with the analysisof our battery professionals and the necessary actionto be taken. We can also provide you with remotemonitoring service; we'll analyze all your critical batteryparameters and let you know when action needs to betaken.

• Battery Predictive Maintenance Services

Battery systems, like your UPS systems, need regularmaintenance to optimize its performance. Batterysystem's performance is affected by the integrity of theconnections to the battery and overall health of theindividual battery; that is if there is one battery failurethe whole string is compromised! Emerson NetworkPower's Customer Engineers are factor y trainedprofessionals who conduct battery PM's following theIEEE standards. Emerson Network Power predictivemaintenance includes:

• Measurement and recording of individual battery voltages and currents• Measurement and recording of 10% of the battery temperature• Measurement and recording of the inter-cell and internal resistances• Visual inspection of the batteries• Checking of electrolyte levels and specific gravity (wet cells)• Torque check on the battery connections• Preparation of professional reports that details the findings and the recommendations for the corrective actions

After the PM, a detailed and professional report will beprovided to you which will contain all the findings thatour CE's had along with the necessary action to be taken.

How long your UPS supports the load during a poweroutage depends on the designed capacity of the batterysystem used. But the power supplied by the utilities is notperfect; sags, fluctuations, surges, frequency variationsand outages take its toll on your batteries over a periodof time. Will your battery system have the capacity it wasdesigned for when an outage occurs? That is whymeasuring the capacity of the battery system is veryimportant. There are different ways of measuring thecapacity of a battery and some even claim that there arehand held tools that can do the job. But the most accurateway of testing the capacity of the battery is through a loadtest. Emerson Network Power conducts actual capacitytests that use actual load or an external load to analyzethe capacity of your battery system in accordanceto IEEE standards.

• Battery replacement services

Even with the best monitoring system and maintenance,batteries have a finite life. Prompt replacement of weakbatteries will only be effective after only a certain quantityof batteries has been replaced. The difference in batterycharacteristics brought about by the age difference of thenew and old batteries in a string causes imbalance in thestring. The more new batteries are added as replacementto weak batteries in a string, the more imbalances arecreated resulting in overcharging and accelerated aging.And as the batteries near its end of life it will be impracticalto replace individual weak cells, instead the whole stringwill be replaced.
