  • Event AdDescription: This flier is intended to get families to attend this picnic in the park

    Date: 1.31.2015

    Course/Instructor: COMM 130 | Brother Judkins

Objective: Scan a picture and design an event flier utilizing that picture using only Word.

Process: At first I started off with this picture and then I had the idea to have the event be a picnic and I thought it would be a great idea to have my background look like a checkered picnic blanket. That took me a lot more time than I thought it would but that had more to do with making sure that my lines were lining up and working the way I wanted them to. I had to figure out which size of the boxes would work with my text boxes and picture and that was more meticulous than I had originally planned on.

    Programs/Tools: Word

  • MontageDescription: Create a spiritual poster montage using pictures and a quote.

    Date: 2.14.2015

    Course/Instructor: COMM 130 | Brother Judkins

Objective: To work more with Photoshop and the layers and maksing tools.

Process: I really enjoyed this project after inspiration hit. I tried looking at pictures and seeing if I liked the way anything fit together (I didnt) and then I switched to looking at quotes/sayings that I potentially wanted to use. After I found a few that I liked, I thought about them and went back to looking at pictures and quite honestly waited for inspiration to hit and that is when this happened and I am happy with it. I used Photoshop to brighten up the background picture a little bit and then just put a mask over the two hands.

    Programs/Tools: Photoshop

  • LogoDescription: Create three logos for a company.

    Date: 2.21.2015

    Course/Instructor: COMM 130 | Brother Judkins

Objective: Use Illustrator to create three different logos for a company.

Process: I honestly had no idea where to start with this project so I just started making shapes and thats how I got my first design. As I did my first design I saw that it looked like an L and I decided to run with that idea and base my company around it. Once I knew what idea I was going to go with then it was a lot easier to come up with the concepts for my next two logo designs. I know that the color wheel is important but I didnt like the way any of them looked with my design and I was too committed to my design to change. I know that the first design looks a little strange but I think that is why I like it more. And I just used the circle tools to make all the other shapes of the lollipops except for the one stick on the second design where I used a rounded rectangle.

    Programs/Tools: Illustrator

  • FlierDescription: This flier is designed to attract the attention of graduating seniors in order to try and get them to come to this conference.

    Date: 1.24.2015

    Course/Instructor: COMM 130 | Brother Judkins

Objective: Create a graduate conference flier, picking from pictures already taken and proofreading the text that was given.

Process: I started off with lots of different ideas in my head and not knowing which one to execute but things got a lot easier once I started putting my ideas down and actually seeing how things could look. The sketches that I did provided me with a good framework but I liked seeing how it would look more in real life than just sketched out. While using InDesign I made an effort to make sure that things maintained an appropriate balance without being exactly symmetrical. I used black lines to kind of split up all the text so that it isnt all jumbled together. I also chose the picture I did so that it looks like she is reaching for the information.

    Programs/Tools: InDesign

  • BrochureDescription: A brochure showcasing a company.

    Date: 3.28.2015

    Course/Instructor: COMM 130 | Brother Judkins

Objective: Create a brochure showing off a company, either real or invented.

Process: First I started with the idea of using the first letters of my roommatess names and came up with GRAMME. Then since we all met by living in the same apartment I decided to create a realty business that we all work at. I used InDesign to make the shape of the house and create the various shapes like the lines on the house and the circle that our company name is in. The pictures dont show it too well but the brochure opens down the middle.

  • WebpageDescription: Webpage design with a logo and description.

    Date: 3.14.2015

    Course/Instructor: COMM 130 | Brother Judkins

Objective: Learn CSS and HTML text, create a logo using Illustrator and incorporate logo and company into webpage.

Process: I started with making my logo with Illustrator and used the rectangle tool to make the camera outline and then used the circle tool to make the lens. I used the type tool to make all the words on it and then put a shadow on it to make it all more dimensional.

    Programs/Tools: Illustrator

  • Business CardDescription: Make business cards for a company.

    Date: 2.28.2015

    Course/Instructor: COMM 130 | Brother Judkins

Objective: Create business cards and a letterhead for a company, either real or invented.

Process: I decided to go with a new company instead of using one of my other logos. I started with my familys business of building pools. For the business cards I liked the idea of the water creating waves so I ran with it. I used the circle tool to create the wave shapes in the water.

    Date: 2.28.2015

    Course/Instructor: COMM 130 | Brother Judkins

Objective: Create a letterhead for a company, either real or invented.

Process: I decided to go with a new company instead of using one of my other logos. I started with my familys business of building pools. I started off with the letter head and that wasnt too hard, I tried to let my creative juices out for a bit and came up with the pool design on the bottom with the plants and waterfall.

Objective: Create an inspirational flier with a picture I took.

Process: I started out with this picture of my roommate that had a glaring red background behind it and played around with the different colors until I found complementary ones. I used the rectangle feature to make my own boxes and then played around with their placement until I found one I really liked.
