Aladdin and Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves Aladdin is a Disney movie and also an Arabian Folktale. We also read a story called Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. Ali Baba is Persian folktale which is a kind of an Arabian Folktale. This is important to know cause when you have a folktale you have to know the kind cause theirs many different kinds. The reason why I am doing these stories is because I want to know which one is better.

There were a lot of similarities to these stories. One of them was that in both of the stories there was a pet,Alibaba had a camel and Aladdin had a monkey. The monkey could talk and the camel cant. They were both the kind of animals that you would see out in the wild and not as a house pets.

They are both a folktale .But not the same kind .Aladdin was an Arabian and Ali Baba was a Persian folktale. They both took place in the same area which was in Arabian.

In both of the stories someone goes into the cave and doesn’t make it out. Ali Babes brother goes into the cave and gets his riches but forgets the password and instead of leaving he stays and the thieves go back and find him there and kill him. And in Aladdin Jafar takes a street rat and puts him in the cave and the cave closes on him because he wasn’t the right person that could go in there.

In both movies there was a cave that had riches. In the movie Aladdin there was lion shaped head made out of sand that had riches that was hidden away a dessert place. And in the book Ali Baba there was a cave of riches hidden away in a stream with a lot of rocks.

In the movie Aladdin there was a song that said something about the forty thieves. Ali Baba’s full name of his story is Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.

In the movie Ali Baba ,Ali Baba was a kind of wealthy guy who had a wife but Aladdin was a poor street rat that pretty much didn’t have anything besides a animal named boo, and Aladdin had to steal stuff cause he was poor but Ali Baba paid for his food.

In the book Ali Baba, he finds the cave himself while he was in the woods by a water fall. And in the movie Aladdin he gets brought to the cave by Jafar and gets forced to go into the cave. And in the movie there wasn’t a password to give to get into the cave you had to have a special person but in the book you had to have a password the password was OPEN SESAME

Another difference was that in Aladdin there was a lot of magic like there was a genie and in the book there wasn’t any magic at all.

I have to say that my favorite was Aladdin because it was a little more exciting than Ali Baba because it had magic and a flying carpet which was cool and a movie is more exciting than a story usually.
