Principal's Report:

Revised Constitution:

Other Matters:

1) Financial Compliance Requirements 2) Repot1 on the 2015 Financial Year 3) Budget for 2016

Impo11ant areas the Al-Hidayah Islamic School is focusing on:

1) The integration of the Islamic Perspective into the Government Curriculum and into teaching and learning.

2) Strategies to improve Teaching and Learning a. Analysis of2016 NAPLAN results b. Improvement ofreading skills across the School c. Acknowledgement of initiatives to improve the teaching of Arabic.

3) Behaviour Education.

Ongoing Improvements: School Library, Maintenance carried out during the Term Break, the creation of a new learning space by relocating the Admin. Office.

The Amir briefed the meeting on the need to make changes to the Associations' Constitution to meet registration compliance requirements, and how this was seen as an oppot1unity by the Governing Shurah to revise and update the Constitution which had remained vit1ually unchanged since it was first presented to The Commissioner of Corporate Affairs in 1993 ( copies of the original Constitution and the revised version, with the proposed changes colour coded for easy reference, had been posted in advance on the School's website). The Attendees were asked for comments or queries on the changes.

Attendee Br. Gala! Ibrahim expressed the view that the decision making process described under Rule 11. (8)( c) should be changed with the Amir having a deciding vote if required. The rationale and desirability behind the adoption of the Islamically based decision making procedure and the safe-guards built into the Constitution to protect the Association, as it exists, were explained in detail by the Amir. Several other attendees contributed to the discussion and as the consensus was for leaving it as is, and because it was not one of the proposed changes under consideration, it was decided to defer the discussion for possible future reference. Attendees were advised how they may initiate that process if they wished.

A vote was taken under Rule 20. (3)(h) and the Revised Constitution was accepted as presented by the required majority.

1) Br. Bilal Bilal enquired about the School's position when in comes to interacting with and learning from other Schools: The School's experience is that such oppot1unities are limited and that occasionally these activities are not necessarily of mutual benefit. (Note Rule 3. (4) To be independent from, but run in cooperation with other educational institutions throughout Australia.) Br. Bilal asked about the possibility of the School engaging the services of a dedicated spot1s teacher and a school spot1s uniform: Operating as a Primary School only there would insufficient activity to keep a spot1s teacher fully occupied. The School Uniform has been designed with some compromise to cover all school activities including recess and lunch play and spo11s. The School does not have the facilities to accommodate changing into and out of spot1s gear.

Br. Bilal asked if School registrations were limited to just two years or was a longer period possible. The requirements of registration have become more complex over time and while registration periods have been generally limited in recent years the School has a reasonable expectation that a registration period longer than its current two years is possible next time around. The School's next registration visit is scheduled for August next year.

2) Br. Saleem Abdi Jamac asked about honest appraisal and assessments by Teachers in response to enquiries from Parents as to Student progress. Teachers are required to give frank and honest responses to such enquiries. A letter to Parents detailing the procedure for arranging meetings with Teachers other than on Parentfreacher days will be sent out again in the near future.

3) Sr. Marianne Foster made a very much appreciated general statement of her satisfaction with, and suppo11 for, the Al-Hidayah Islamic School.

With no other business arising, the AGM was formally closed.
