STUDENT SPOTLIGHT AHMED YOUSUF PATEL

Hi I am Ahmed Yousuf Patel from Dhaka, Bangladesh and recently enrolled in Australian Industrial Systems Institute.

It is a great place to study. Everything we study is practical and the class room is cool. The computer labs with internet facilities are awesome! The teachers are very helpful and friendly. When I came to Melbourne (after recently settling in Sydney) the college helped me find accommodation which gave me great relief and it also showed me the path to find a job and believe me I got a job within 2 weeks of which I am proud to say! I got a job at the Cafe Ronaldo at Crown Hotel as a Bar Attendant.

I am thankful to all my class teachers who helped me during my hard days especially Richard, Julia, Sally, and Cariad, and a very very special thanks to our Principal Roula, who is an inspiration to me like my mother and I wish her all the best.

There is a saying "behind every success there is a woman". But for me, I say “behind my success is my college". I wish all the students who are studying there all the best and I am proud to be a part of it.

TEACHER’S BLOG SHANE LOWE

My name is Shane, and I am currently teaching Engines. My students are currently covering areas in inspecting and servicing engines, to ignitions and also repairing cooling systems. The workload is exhausting, but rewarding as you are making a big difference in the students’ lives. The experience I am having with our international students is teaching me many things about their cultures, families and way of life back in their home countries. I am finding the Sikh religion to be very interesting, particularly the way the men do not cut their hair. And my Mauritius students have been trying to teach me French and Creole! I hope my football team win this weekend. Go the Richmond Tigers!

2008 AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX

AISI rewarded 50 lucky students (on a first in best dressed basis) with tickets to the 2008 Australian Grand Prix. The students, accompanied by AISI teachers, attended Thursday 13th of March race day events, observing the V8 supercars, GT practice and qualifying rounds and historic demonstrations.

Students were required to complete a small assignment on various elements of the event, making the event not only a fun activity but relating back to their learning.

Some students got more than they bargained for – Mridul Chopra even found himself a well-paid job as part of the official Grand Prix Promotions team for the remaining days of the Grand Prix, allowing him to watch the main race while getting paid! Well done!

We hope to hold other exciting excursions throughout the year.
