On Wednesday, the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc) em-ployees participated in a Wellness Day. The Wellness day has become a monthly fixture on the nbc’s cor-porate calendar. The theme for this month’s Wellness Day was “Mental Health at the Workplace”.
nbc Wellness Champion and HR Partner Miina Stephanus not-ed: “Employers are aware that by proactively supporting the health of their employees, they are able to reduce absenteeism, increase
engagement and improve produc-tivity - hence the focus on Mental Wellness this month.”
The day started off with an outdoor yoga session offered by Yoga by Beauty. Yoga is praised to be restorative for both body and mind. The nbc staff members were treated to a 30 minute yoga session followed by a briefing on the health benefits to be obtained from prac-tising yoga on a daily basis.
The second phase of the Well-ness Day was held indoors with
a presentation on mental health at the workplace by Sister Mietha Jacobs from the Ministry of Health and Lydia Chimana from Renais-sance Health, the broadcaster’s new medical aid service provider.
The informative and education-al session was well attended by nbc employees. The latest Wellness Day was once again clear evidence that the nbc is committed to investing in the wellbeing of its employees by ensuring that all aspects of their health are catered for.
