Solution

ResultsKLM Royal Dutch Airlines operates an airline company worldwide. The company’s main business is passenger transportation. Its activities also include cargo, aeronautics maintenance, and other air transport related activities, including principally catering and charter services.

• Create an interactive on boarding program able to deliver the company DNA to new hires and offer functional on boarding

• Ability to function off-line• Deploy within three months• Reduce need for travelling• Connectivity with existing HR IT

KLM has installed the on-boarding program for new ground staff on our platform. As part of a multiple week training, both in classrooms as at location Schiphol Airport, new employees will be challenged to compete in small teams. With a wide selection of interactive questions and assignments the knowledge about KLM and Schiphol is boosted to the level required to be able to excel as a professional employee for the ground operation.

“We finished a beautiful onboarding training for our service agents and ground force. The hires get job-aids and a grand tour at Schiphol Airport to help them understand what they really need in their daily job” - Edwin Bleumink, Innovation Manager

User case: Etihad Cabin Crew

Situation

Challenge

Solution

ResultsEtihad Airways, commenced operations in November 2003 and has developed into one of the fastest growing airlines in the history of commercial aviation. Because of the rapid growth, communicating a consistent message across new crew is very important

• Deal with a highly distributed workforce causing a logistic challenge to fly crew to Abu Dhabi for training

• Transfer culture to new crew as part of a new campaign

• Manage fast-growing flight crew• Pre-boarding: learn before day one

For Etihad Airways we implemented the pre-boarding application on our mobile platform. It is a smartphone app that new crew members can access to learn about their prospective employer and key safety information. After joining, the mobile training is deployed as a blended solution where real life training is combined with mobile challenges.

“Thanks to Appical we have been able to engage our cabin crew before day one and reduce travel expenses prior to joining. The program was deployed in 6 week, and has improved our safety culture” - Wissam Hachem, VP of HR

Annual win for Etihad Airways: USD 1,200,000

Annual Investment: USD 150,000
