Air travel - advantages and disadvantages

Nowadays, there are many means of transport to travel around the world such as train, ship,car, airplane, ect. Almost all people choose airplane, because it’s the fastest mode of transport. But in fact, it has both advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages The supreme advantage of air transport is

its high speed. It is the fastest mode of transport and thus it is the most suitable mean where time is an important factor. We can travel to anywhere in few hours. If we travel by car or ship, it will take few days.

It provides a regular, comfortable, efficient and quick service. We can listen to music, read books or play games on the plane. Thirdly, the plane has much convenience. The flight attendants are always friendly, we can "call" them when we need. Moreover, some meals on the plane taste well.

It follows the shortest and direct route as seas, mountains or forests do not come in the way of air transport.

Disadvantages It is the costliest means of transport. The fares of air

transport are so high that it is beyond the reach of the common man. The cost of the tickets is not cheap, especially travel to other country or other continent. It amounts to hundreds of dollars or even millions. 

Its carrying capacity is very small and hence it is not suitable to carry cheap and bulky goods.

Air transport is uncertain and unreliable as it is controlled to a great extent by weather conditions. Unfavourable weather such as fog, snow or heavy rain etc. may cause cancellation of scheduled flights and suspension of air service.

The chances of breakdowns and accidents are high as compared to other modes of transport. Hence, it involves comparatively greater risk.

We can not be able to see beautiful sights on the way. The sights below become very small, cities are small, mountains are small too, everything is small. But when we travel by ship or car, we can see all beautiful sights. 

In conclusion, there are both pros and cons of traveling by air. People should choose the suitable means and that means suits their standard.
