McLing thls pistol willbe ercellent trcrining loryour metrrl lcfhe work.rl-tHIS air plstol. is an interesting toy, yet it shsots hard enoughI to break a milk bottle, and can be used for target practiee oreven for kining small game at reasonable range. It must there-fore, be Sven tbe careful handling required for any grrn or weaponcapabtreof inflicting a riound, however slighL

The pistol is essentially a metal-turning lathe project, and any-one possessingsuch equipment in his w.orkshop will have no diffi-culty ivith the elemerrtary gunsmithing involved. The drawingsgive Reeessary details and dimensions; a brief study sf the see-tional sketch wi0 make clear the gunis si4ple but effective con-strtrction and firing action. The force with which tJre pellet isejected from the muzde depends upon the amount of air presflrrepumped into the chamber, and needless to say, entire success ofthe gun's operation is based on a perfecf seating of the valve.Tlre barrel is the first piece to be worked on- Bore it from dpiece af.9ux3/4"piece of soft iron rsd" Stert the boring rvith an11/64" drill When this drill is as deep as it will go, use anotherLLI64,'drill to which a piece of E%." rill rod has been welded. Itis preferable to set the 3/+" rod in the lathe strapped against aheadstock center with the other end in the center rest. Be ex-tremely careful to have your centers properly aligne{ turn slowly, and avoid over-heating of the drill lContimtcil o* page 1701ffi i"il'r,.f;i;xtiiiu;lfif[*#HERASS BI,,SHING srcxr
