There is a secure login for all GEMS users, including parents. Teachers and parents can, by default, see everything their children do through My Learning. Also, the school administrator is able to track all activity, through the use of a customizable profanity filter.

Assessments- Assessment for Learning

for Year 10 : 3 Formative and 3 Summative assessments over three terms.

International Benchmark Assessment – ALIS for year 12 Formative assessment :- is ongoing , based on day to day classroom practice, where bothteacher and student use feedback to improve learning and identifying what the next steps shouldbe.Summative assessment –end of term, end of year, Final board exams. It is to measure the level of success that a student has obtained and to evaluate student’s learning at the end of the term.This comprehensive assessment programme helps in obtaining a clear picture of where a student is relative to learning targets. The more we know about individual students as they engage in the learning process, the better we can support to ensure that all students continue to achieve and move forward in their learning.

Marking and Reporting

Formative:- Peer and Self MarkingDiagnostic MarkingTarget setting

Summative:- End of unit tests, end of term assessments, pre-mocks, mocks and end of year exams. These are marked according to IGCSE grade bands and AS/A - Level criteria.

Tracking and recording data – Students’ progress is tracked and monitored regularly. Underachieving students are identified and offered support. Teacher marking is done in green ink-once a week, peer marking in a different colourthan written text and self in pencil as and when in the class.

Report:- Three reports, one per term.13

Registration Procedure for Board Exams

1. Understand the key to syllabuses and then tick the subjects. 2. Mark core or extended column carefully while registering.3. Submit passport copy with the form to check the name and date of birth.4. Get forms checked by Key Stage Head and Head of Assessments.5. Make payment to Accounts and submit forms, before due date,

The Parent Representatives play a key role in strengthening the connectivity between the school, the parents and the children.

They are the parent face and voice in school activities and events, in support of the children, the institution and the parent body.

The Parent Representatives have made numerous contributions to support the smooth running of the school.

Our major activities and achievements in the year 2014 have been :• The Fun Fair• Parents Teaching Parents - The English and Arabic classes for parents • We had as many as 20 parents from as many nationalities and the

learning was mutual.• The support towards the school's reading programme.

This year we look forward to planning and organizing events for:• Enhancing the entrepreneur and enterprising skills • A programme for vocabulary enhancement.• Spoken Arabic classes for non - Arab parents.

The Joys Of Being A Parent Rep

Each of us in the Parent Representative Group felt that through our work, wtoo enriched ourselves in many ways.

The two major areas were

Understanding the expectations of the school from both the parents and thstudents, which was very necessary to benefit from the numerous activities planned by the school for the children.

Understanding the curriculum and its demands better.

Also when the children see their parents working as a team with the school it impacts their outlook and attitude positively

Attendance

Attendance is directly related to performance and progress.

KHDA- 98% is outstanding attendance, 96% is good and less than 92 % is unsatisfactory.

Punctuality – Be in school by 7:45 am.

Parents are not expected to be around the classes/corridors during contact time especially after 7:45 a.m. and before 2:00 p.m.

Enrichment Programme:- we have an Enrichment lesson every week-this is to best meet and provide a wide range of learning opportunities.

In secondary school students have many options like , a wide range offield trips and Overseas trips, MUN, World scholars, Astronomy Club, Envinch Club, Business Club, Food and Nutrition Club, and many more.
