Prohibited Substances on Automobiles ( 汽车禁用物质要求 )• 6 substances restricted, same as RoHS• Scope: vehicles and parts, domestic & imported

Assessment of Passenger Car, by MEP ( 乘用车内空气质量评价指南 )• Scope: in-car air quality,• Effective on March 1st, 2012• 8 VOCs: benzene, toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene,

styrene, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acrolein;

• In NTCAS, GEELY drafted the first standard of VOC testing method, "The detection methods for VOC, aldehydes and ketone of in-car non-metal materials and components”– Bag method(widely used by Japanese cars);

Box method(widely used by EU high-end cars)



Activities in 2013:– “2013 International Forum on Automobile

Materials”• Hosted by CATARC, MIIT, and co-organized by AICM;• Apr. 23~24,2013;• Deputy Chair (Michael ZHU), delivered a speech titled

as “Commitment to Responsible Use of Materials”;• 20 participants from 12 member companies;



Activities in 2013:– CATARC Research on Non-metal Materials Meeting

• Organized by AICM;• July 24~25,2013;• Mr. HuaLiang HOU from CATARC and Sharp TAN (AICM

Auto. sub-committee chair) delivered speeches;• 30 participants from 18 member companies;• visited Axalta, Bayer, DSM, DuPont, Eastman, Lanxess;



Future regulation tendency by CATARC :– Gas emission– Clean production– Comprehensive oil consumption– Toxic & hazardous substances– Air quality– Noise– Recyclability– Recoverability Organized by AICM;

3. 2014 Work Plan

Goal & Work Plan in 2014:– Keep following ELV and its supporting

regulation/standards– Enhance networks with MIIT, CATARC and Vehicle

Manufacturers

– Plan to visit stakeholder: vehicle manufacturers;– Survey on CAMDS training;

– A big event - SUAL 2014, which will be organized by SUAL and CATARC, in Aug.
