Realise your passion to become a healer with a natural medicine course.

Any therapy that relies on the body’s own healing powers may be considered natural medicine or naturopathy. The remedies available to practitioners can include herbal remedies, diet and water therapies. Naturopathic principles are based on treating each person as an individual and treating the whole person, not just the affected area.

Graduates may practise in their own clinic or may work in hospitals, clinics or as health educators. Students planning to practice should ensure they complete a course which is certifi ed by the appropriate professional association.

The career outlook for alternative health care providers is very strong. The need for natural therapy practitioners expands in conjunction with mainstream health care needs.

The different types of natural health medicine to consider include:

• Acupuncture: stimulation at precise acupuncture points

• Naturopathy: includes herbal medicine, nutritional advice, lifestyle advice and hydrotherapy (water based therapy)

• Nutrition: reviewing dietary intake and lifestyle to determine any imbalances

• Aromatherapy: uses naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants.
