IntroductionLondon’s skyline and the Thames provide the
perfect backdrop for couples seeking an iconic, unique wedding venue. Once you’ve taken your
vows, surrounded by family and friends, you will step out onto The Deck’s private outdoor terrace where you can enjoy the views, high
above London’s vibrant South Bank.
The Deck can accommodate up to 100 seated guests for a ceremony and up to 80 for a
seated dinner. The Deck boasts breath-taking views of London, plenty of natural daylight
which floods through the semi transparent walls and an easily accessible location.
The National Theatre’s Hospitality Events team will manage your day from beginning to end to ensure that everything is perfect and will assist you with all of your pre-wedding planning. We hope that you find everything you need in this brochure and look forward to meeting with you

Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I hold my ceremony at the National Theatre?The Deck is the only licensed area for ceremonies at
the National Theatre.
How do I book the registrar for my ceremony?Please contact Lambeth Council on 020 7926 9420
It is advised to book as early as possible and ask them to arrive 30 minutes prior to the wedding to do the documentation. This is one part of your day that we cannot control, so please make sure
a member of your wedding party has a contact number for emergencies!
Can my photographer take pictures during the ceremony?There are certain parts of the vows when photography is not permitted, your registrar will advise you on this and will do
during the ceremony.
Are we allowed confetti inside and outside The Deck?Confetti is permitted outside The Deck only and it must be
biodegradable, we suggest using petals as an option.
Who will be looking after my wedding on the day?You will have a dedicated event manager to co-ordinate and organise the whole day. They will be with you from beginning
to end to make sure it is a day to remember. On the day of your wedding there will also be an event supervisor on hand to look
after the catering.
Can the bride get ready at the venue?Unfortunately we do not have facilities for the bride to get ready,
however we can provide a room for the bride and bridal party to meet with the registrar before the ceremony, which can be
arranged through your event manager. FAQ

What is the booking procedure?We ask for 50% of the package price and a signed contract to confirm your required date. The remaining 50% of the package price must be paid 30 days before the wedding and any extras
should be paid no later than 30 days after the wedding.
How late can you stay open?The bar closes at 11.30pm for guests to leave by midnight.
Special licenses to stay open later can be arranged on request and will depend on licensing laws.
Can we have a menu and wine tasting?Tastings can be arranged for dinners only. If you would like to see the quality of the food we would be more than happy to book you a table at House Restaurant within the National Theatre. A 10% discount is available for the bride and groom on food, which can be arranged through your event manager. We can arrange for you
to try our wine and the bottles will be charged on your final invoice.
Is there a corkage charge?If you would like to bring your own wine or Champagne we
charge £12 corkage per bottle of wine, £18 corkage per bottle of Champagne and £96 corkage per bottle of spirit.
Can you cater for children and what age do you classify as a child?
It is no problem to cater for young children, we find that children over the age of 12 are happy to eat with the adults. Children’s
meals can be either a half portion of the main or something more child friendly. As this is a package there is no change to the cost. Please contact your event manager to arrange children’s meals.
Can we use our own caterers? Our in-house team will provide all the catering for your wedding
and we cannot accommodate external caterers. FAQ

Can I use a supplier who isn’t on your recommended supplier list?
Yes you can, however we have worked with our suppliers for years, have great relationships with them and they know the
venue well, therefore we advise you use them as they will be able to recommend what works best in The Deck. If you wish to use your own supplier your event manager will need a copy of their
Public Liability Insurance and all PAT certificates for any electrical equipment.

Where is the closest parking?The National Theatre has its own underground parking and
charges will vary based on the length of stay.
Can we have fireworks and Chinese lanterns?Unfortunately fireworks and Chinese lanterns are not
permitted in The Deck.
Can we have a DJ?As dancing is not permitted in The Deck, we do not allow DJs. We are a working theatre therefore noise level restrictions apply. The
Terrace Bar can accommodate a DJ and dancing.
When can we deliver things to The Deck?Deliveries are only for the day of your wedding, please speak to
your event manager if this poses a problem. Suppliers can also be in direct contact with your event manager.
Can we have coaches and buses?Coaches and buses can drop off outside the National Theatre,
however there is no dedicated parking.
