In all it attracted 13,985 visitors and 90 exhibitors from 10 countries over the 3 day period, who showcased various products and services to a professional audience of stakeholders like never before. The success of the event is largely because Agriculture and agribusiness development is prevalent in the north central and northern region where agricultural practice is more owing to ample land and nearness to decision makers in Government. Another event the Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme for Agribusiness Advancement (YESAA) added colour to the event by brining young people who are the agribusiness leaders of tomorrow for networking and skill acquisition drills. There is a need to attract young people to agribusiness owing to the need to bridge the gap between the young people and the aging population of farmers. YESAA was facilitated by IITA and other resource providers from the export organization and NABG. Participants benefited from prices and awards. Participants were exposed to the enormous opportunities in the agricultural value chain and benefits of investing in the sector. The AGRIKEXPO and NABG conferences ran concurrently with Afgean Conferences, and a Mini Poultry Summit, ,Workshop on Aquaculture and Fishery, Exports Clinic and Seminar. These events altogether provided cause for a rich turn out of stakeholders from the value chain. Like never before over the last 5 editions, there were many more visitors from the other West African countries which made it a greater opportunity for business expansions in the region. Testimonies and data show that several new deals were made and attendees were happy with participation. Indeed over 50% of exhibitors have confirmed participation again in 2018, as opportunity for agribusiness in Nigeria continues to evolve. Indeed AGRIKEXPO has evolved to become a great platform for Agribusiness networking in Nigeria.

EXHIBITORS
Participation of foreign exhibitors
has increased steadily from 2015
to 2017. This was as a result of
increased confidence in the
exhibition due to consistent
positive results achieved by
participants in previous exhibition
editions. We are confident that
more foreign exhibitors will
participate in 2018 as we are
partnering more with them and
in addition to that, we have
started getting lots of positive
feedbacks from foreign
exhibitors who participated in
the just concluded 2017 edition,
promising to be back in
subsequent editions and letting
us know they are spreading the
word about AGRIKEXPO.

There was a slight drop in
exhibitor growth in 2017, a drop
of 6% which reflected the
economic climate in the
country. Nigeria was just coming
out of recession that had
drained its resources and at the
time of the expo, growth rate
was still slow. This strained
companies and made some
companies which earlier
promised to attend incapable of
attending due to tight
economic conditions. We are
optimistic that going by the
economic fundamentals, there
is a strong positive outlook for the
country which will make
exhibitor participation in 2018
take a dramatic turn. We are
positive that the political and
economic efforts will yield
positive results and more
exhibitors will come in in 2018 vis-
à-vis 2017.

VISITORS
AGRIKEXPO witnessed overall
visitor growth of 21% between 2016
and 2017. Visitors expressed
satisfaction that the 3-day event
was worth the time invested. They
were happy that the free event
offered them a life changing
opportunity and exposure into the
world of agribusiness. They said all
the information required of them
to take off was found at a single
location. And those who were
already in the industry found
answers to lingering questions and
used the opportunity to network
and expand their horizons. With
these positive feedbacks, we are
very positive that the next edition
will have more visitors in
attendance.

Foreign visitors’ participation in
AGRIKEXPO has steadily
increased over the years. As
visitors realize the value adding
benefits of the events, they
come back and bring others with
them as they do. The 2017
AGRIKEXPO edition was not an
exception, it witnessed both
local and foreign visitors. Foreign
visitors have come from other
African countries, Europe,
America and Asia. Visitors came
from Ghana, Togo, Ivory Coast,
Benin Republic and Kenya. Their
participation shows the
increasing importance and
coverage of AGRIKEXPO. 2018
will witness more influx of visitors
from foreign countries as
information spreads about the
value adding effect of being in
attendance.

It was good to promote and meet directly with end users, channel distributors and bulk
buyers. Putting the brand in the face of over 5000 farmers and visitors was a definitely a
plus. We would attend the event in 2018.

There is no way to describe how we felt about the show compared to what we thought before visiting Nigeria. Many important dignitaries and buyers visited our stand and we are happy for participation. There will definitely be many more Chinese companies in the 2018 edition.
