Engine electronics, immobilizer

The control indicator illumina tes for a fewseconds when the ign ition is switched on.

Illuminates when the engine is running

Fault in the engine electronics system. Theelectro nics system sw itches to lim p-home

mode. Fuel consumption may increase andthe driveabilit y of the vehicle m ay be

impaired – see pag e 90. Consult aworkshop. We recommend your V auxhall

Aut horised Repaire r.

If it flashes when the ignition is on:Fault in the electro nic immo bilizer system;the engine ca nnot be sta rted – see

page 29.

wearing seat belt s endanger their fellowoccupan ts and t hemselves.

Seat belts are designed to be used by onlyone person a t a time. They are not suitable

for child ren under 12 years of a ge or150 cm unless an a ppropria te child

restra int system is used.

For children u p to 12 yea rs of ag e we

recom mend the Vauxhall child restra intsystem – see page 63.

necessary height by rotat ing the eye byha nd . Position t he jack at t he f ront or

rear so that t he jack claw spans thevertical b ase between the markings and

grips in the recess in th e vertica l base.Make sure it is properly positioned.

The jack b ase m ust be on the grounddirectly b elow the jacking point in a

manner that prevents it from slipping.

bolts on the new wheel checked on thevehicle using a to rque wrench as soon

as possib le and, if necessary, corrected.Tightening torque – see page 152.

14. Replace the fa ult y tyre on the wheelthat was rem oved.

Engine oil level, engine oil consumptionEvery engine consumes engine oil for

technical reasons. The engine oilconsump tion cannot be assessed until a

fair ly long distance has been dr iven, a ndmay be a bove the specif ied value when t he

vehic le is first b eing driven (run-in period ).Frequent d riv ing at high revs increases

engine oil consumpt ion.

In vehicles with eng ine oil level check  3 , the

engine oil level is checked aut omat ically. Itis particularly adv isable t o check the

engine oil level before emb arking on a long journey.

The engine oil level must not e xceed the

If the engine oil level is above t he MAXma rk t here is a risk of damage to t he

engine or the cata lytic converter.

The amount filled must be between the

MIN and MAX ma rks – see pag e 155.

The glycol-based c oolant provides

excellent co rrosion pro tection fo r theheating a nd cooling systems as well as

Frost and corrosion protection

Before the sta rt of t he cold weather season,have the coolant checked fo r correct

concentrat ion using a calibratedhydrometer. We recommend that you

consult your Vauxha ll Authorised Repa irer.The anti-freeze cont ent must gua rantee

frost prot ection down to appro x. -28 °C. Aninsufficient concentration will reduce frost

and corrosion prot ection . Add ant i-freeze ifnecessary.

If coolant loss is topped up with wa ter,have anti-f reeze concentration checked

and a dd anti-f reeze if necessary.

Hardly any losses occur since t he coolingsystem is sealed and it is thus rarely

necessary t o top up t he coolant.

The coolan t in the exp ansion ta nk should

be just ab ov e the marking KALT/COLD orbetween LOW and FULL in diesel engines

with t he cooling system cold. It rises whenthe engine has warmed up and drops

again a s the engine cools. If it f alls b elowthe marking KALT/COLD or b elowLOW

during th is, top up to just a bove themarking KALT/COLD or bet ween LOW

and FULL.

you add a lit tle Vauxha ll Windscreen WashSolvent.

The windscreen washer system will no tfreeze in winter:

Parking the vehicle for more than 4 weeks

connect or disconnect ba ttery with en ginerunning or ignit ion switched on. Never start

engine with bat tery disconnected, e.g .when star ting using jump leads.

reach t hem more easily.

If you wash your vehicle by hand, makesure th at t he insides of the wing s a re alsotho roughly rinsed out .

Wax your vehicle regularly, in pa rticularaf ter it has been washed using shampoo

and at the lat est when wa ter no longerforms beads on the pa intwork, otherwise

the paintwork will dry out.

PolishingPolishing is necessa ry only if the pa int has

become du ll or if solid deposits havebecome att ached to it .

For additiona l cleaning of plastic andrubber parts use Interior Cleaner. Do notuse any other a gent, and in part icular do

not use solvents or petrol.

Clean fa bric upholstery with a va cuumcleaner and brush. To remove stains, use

cleane r that is suit able for b oth fabrics a ndvinyl.

Do not use cleaners such as acetone,carbon tetrachloride, pa int t hinner, paint

remover, nai l va rnish remover, washingpowder or bleach. Petrol is also unsuita ble.

Open velc ro fastenings in your clothingcould damage the seat cushions. Close

velcro fastenings.

Seat beltsAlw ays keep seat belts clean a nd d ry.

Clean on ly wit h lukewarm wate r or Cleaner.

For mechanical removal of ice, use a

commercially available sharp-edge d icescraper. Press the scraper f irmly aga inst

the glass so that no dirt can ge t und er itand scrat ch the glass.

Smearing wiper blades can be cleaned witha soft cloth and Vau xhall Clea ning Solvent

LocksThe locks are lubrica ted with a high-gradelock cylind er grease at the factory.

Vau xhall lock cylinder grease prevents thelocks from freezing up. Only use de-icing

agen t in emergencies, as they have adegreasing effect and will impair t he

function of t he locks. Af ter using a de-icingagen t, have t he locks re-greased. We

recommend that you entrust this to your

Vauxhall Authorised Repairer

underbody work ca rried out by a nVau xhall Au thorised Repaire r, who knows

the prescribed materials and hasexperience in the use t hereof.

The unde rbody should b e washedfollowing the end of the cold weather

season to remove any dirt a dhering to theunderbody since this may also contain salt.
