Krysten Walker is the daughter of Robert and Dawn Walker, and the granddaughter of Virginia Sweetsir of Beaver/Fairbanks, and the late David Sweetsir, Sr. of Ruby, Alaska. She is currently completing her senior year at Stanford University where she is pursuing a bachelor’s in science, technology and society with a concentration in innovation and
organizations. Krysten is a Doyon Class C shareholder and served as Doyon’s 2016 communications intern. Outside of class, she is an active member of her sorority and currently serves as vice president of recruitment. She works part-time as an intern in the Stanford Law School communications department and part-time as a social media consultant for Doyon’s Get Out the Native Vote initiative. After graduation, Krysten plans to serve in the Peace Corps as a science teacher in Sierra Leone.

Krysten Walker
Martin Sensmeier is an actor of Tlingit, Koyukon-Athabascan, and Irish descent. He was raised in a Tlingit Coastal Community in Southeast Alaska and grew up learning and participating in Native traditions. He is an ambassador for The Native Wellness Institute, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and advocates for wellness among Native people of all Nations, focusing largely on the youth.
In 2007, Martin moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. His schedule working with Doyon Drilling allowed him to support his dreams, pay for acting classes and afford living in southern California. In 2011, he began pursuing a career in the arts full time.
Martin recently finished filming the remake of The Magnificent Seven, where he played the role of Red Harvest, starring alongside Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke and several other well known actors.

The Chief Andrew Isaac Leadership Award recognizes a person age 35 or younger, who has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities. The award is named in honor of the late Chief Andrew Isaac, who emphasized the importance of education for youth to become leaders of tomorrow.

The Gin’tith (Richard Frank) Military Service Award recognizes an Alaska Native who demonstrates a strong commitment and willingness to serve in the U.S. armed forces in the defense of the United States of America.
