Weld County School District RE-5J 110 S. Centennial Dr., Suite A Milliken, Colorado 80543 Date: May 8, 2017 To: Board of Education From: Marty Foster, Superintendent of Schools Re: Revised Capital Reserve Fund Expenditure - Gym Floor Replacement at Milliken Middle School Dear Board Members, After Board approval at the April 26, 2017 Board meeting of All City Floor Company’s bid, I have learned that due to a scheduling issue, they cannot begin the work until August 2017, so we will need to look at a different company to do this work. Therefore, I am submitting a new recommendation to approve TLC Hardwood Floor’s bid to complete the work. TLC comes with strong references and is used exclusively by UNC for all work on the university’s hardwood gym floors. Attached is information that includes an inspection report and three bids to replace the floor in the old gym at Milliken Middle School. The inspection report highly recommends that the gym floor be replaced as soon as possible. Summary of Base Bids
All City Floor Company $81,137.00 TLC Hardwood Floors LLC $81,500.00 S&S Floor Surfacing, Inc. $82,670.00
TLC can begin the work right after school is out. Their floor installation process does include a moisture barrier and a one-year warranty on the installation of the floor, but will not cover any damage caused by outside moisture, etc. The total for the gym floor replacement project would be $81,500.00. Please let me know if you have questions.
