RESEARCH INTEREST AND EXPERTISE
My main interest has been the study of the mechanisms underlying progressive chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the
factors influencing its progression. Over the last 30 years, the research undertaken at the Sheffield Kidney Institute, under
my direction, has been a leader in the UK and internationally in the field of the study of mechanisms of progressive CKD
and their prevention. This has led to major advances in the field. The evaluation of experimental and clinical interventions
aimed at slowing progressive kidney insufficiency.
