Seniors Week—June 6-12

We will be celebrating Father’s Day on Friday June 17th in the morning and afternoon!

10:30am—Ties and Tim Horton’s in the Atrium. We provide and the coffee and timbits, you bring your tie and smile. Come enjoy the morning as we celebrate our Father’s in style. 2:00—Father’s Day Country Line Dancing in the Atrium brought to you by Chinook Country Line Dancers. Come enjoy the afternoon with us and join in if your boots feel the beat.

Entertainment Wednesday June 1st @ 3:00pm Dwayne Fettig in the Atrium Wednesday June 15th @ 3:00pm Sox & Sax in the Atrium

The Red Hatter’s will be going to William Watson Lodge in Kananaskis on June 28th 9:00-4:00pm.

Grumpy Old Men’s Club will be in house this month and enjoying an afternoon in the courtyard. Big BINGO! Saturday’s in the Evergreen Dining Room at 2:00pm! 6-8 games divided into two sessions. 25cents per card, per round. Come out and play! The Corner Store—every Thursday at 2:00pm in the Atrium. Volunteers from the Estate will be selling items such as, chocolate bars, candy, trinkets, toothbrushes, and much more! Calgary Public Library open Tuesday at 1:00pm in the Atrium. Come on down after lunch to find a good book to read. Large Print books are available.

One day in the mountains a few years in the past,

While enjoying a picnic spread out on the grass.

A cheeky little Chipmunk came hip hopping our way,

But as it turned out, he had no chance to stay.

A squirrel gave chase to our

cute little guest, Over sidewalk and lawn, al-

lowed no time to rest. When the squirrel departed

having won the bout, The chipmunk lay spread-

eagled his tongue hanging out.

After a rest our cute chipmunk was back,

No doubt presuming we’d give him a snack.

We dug out some peanuts and offered a few,

His mouth was so stuffed he had no room to chew.

More peanuts laid out than his

cheeks could pack, When one popped out, a wee

paw put it back. This process was repeated on

each step to his lair, He determined , that peanut,

he just couldn’t spare. ~Estate Resident

Seniors make a difference in our communities every day. From supporting family members and friends to assisting charities and volunteering, seniors are deeply involved in our communities and their contributions benefit Albertans of all ages. We are going to have the Seniors Week Awards in the Atrium at 10:30am During this time we will be congratulating and awarding seniors who have contributed their time to the Resident Council, Top Recreation Participation and Exercise Participation and much more.

News from the Maintenance Team Families and visitors are reminded that the fastest way to get a

repair request into the hands of the Maintenance team is to let the Reception desk know of the details so that it can be entered into our

computerized work order system called Worxhub. Someone from Maintenance will look after it from there as soon as possible.

A reminder from the Maintenance team that with the warmer weather now

here...the best way to keep your room cool is to keep the windows closed and curtains drawn during the day and whenever not in your room, please

remember to turn out the lights.

New Resident Care Manager Please join me in congratulating Margaret Lichwa as our new Resident Care Manager. She will be starting her new role on May 29, 2016. The neighborhoods she will assume responsibility for are Evergreen and Shawnessy. Margaret has been a valuable member of the Midnapore team for many years. She has received many compliments for her excellent care and her dedication to our residents’ health and wellbeing.

Courtyard Flower Beds A huge thank you to Spruce It Up Garden Centre who built 4 of our new raised flower beds. 2 in the Main Courtyard, 1 in Sundance, and 1 in the Adult Day Program.

A Note from the Food Service Team We have 10 Red Seal Chefs and a registered Dietitian that create our menu. This menu represents the tastes and preferences from all AgeCare communities. To be transparent in our standards we post our meal pictures outside the Dining Room. We follow the Canada Food Guide and AHS Standards. Every day at breakfast we provide hot and cold cereals, whole wheat and raisin toast. There is a breakfast entrée provided daily. Popular choices are fresh fruit salad and cottage cheese, waffles and bacon, hard boiled eggs and western scrambles eggs. At lunch time we have soup made in house, a main entrée and an alterna-tive entrée with a side dish and dessert. Popular choices for lunch are chicken fingers and fries, pizza, and macaroni and cheese. During supper we have a main entrée and an alternative entrée, side starch and a side vegetable and dessert. Sunday suppers are more traditional Ca-nadian meals Snacks are provide between lunch and dinner and then again after dinner.
