You must be thinking that they had purchased a heap load of Ding and Liang from the many gold-sellers. Or perhaps they had mined lead ore for 50 hours a week. Nah.. You are totally wrong. Here is the secret

With over 10,000 NPCs and many maps, how can I trigger Random Encounters (RE)? Not to worry, with this master script, you have unlocked the ultimate knowledge on all profitable REs.

This guide is a collaboration of the top players within both Age of Wushu and the 9-Yin Chinese Servers. We have basically built this database of knowledge up from trial and error.

RANDOM ENCOUNTERS ARE NOT EASY TO TRIGGER

Patience is required to trigger REs, as some can be time consuming. The rewards can be amazing

Word of caution extreme patience is required when executing some of the listed REs. However, patience is worthwhile as they offer you the best martial arts skills, looms, crafting powder, flying skills and more!

Introduction

What is a Random Encounter ? Random encounters are usually determined by rolling dice against a random encounter table. The tables are usually based on location (and/or time/reputation), and have a chance for differing encounters with different rewards or difficulty. The results may be modified by other tables, such as your current faction (Evil/Good/Lunatic), your affinity with various NPCS (or certain combinations of NPCS) and your power level (Expert of self..etc). First a random player in the zone will be selected, then a dice is rolled to determine what kind of RE will he trigger. Random encounters are random in the respect that players cannot anticipate the exact moment of encounter or what will be encountered, as the occurrence of the event is based on factors such as programmed probabilities; Pseudo-random number generators create the sequence of numbers used to determine if an encounter will happen. The form and frequency can vary depending on a number of factors, such as where the player is located in the game world and the statistics of the player character.

THREE TYPES OF RANDOM ENCOUNTERS

There are some things in Age of Wushu that are not planed, but experienced. These experiences are mysterious and can occur without warning. You could run into a bit of serendipity or find yourself in a bit of trouble. Some of them could confer a life-changing set of martial arts skills without the player having to lift a finger. Or you could wear yourself out, only to receive a reward as valuable as a simple stone. These are Random Encounters, and they can leave a player joyful or seething. In later sections, we will give you locations of every affluent NPCS in game that trigger random encounters, and give you step by step on how to increase your chances they will choose you.

3 Types of REs

RANDOM TYPE Each map will have a random encounter similar to a lotto. A random player will be chosen from the map and an unknown NPC will start following them. You will be able to trigger a random encounter with certain NPCs everyday. However, once you talk to that NPC they will go on cooldown and others may not talk to them. FIXED TYPE This type of random encounter involves items dropped in the world. When you a Fixed Task Item is dropped, you must find the corresponding NPC to trigger the random encounter. No further requirements are needed. Tip: To begin a random encounter, find an NPC with a lantern icon above their head. Random Encounters are the result of your interactions with NPCs and the world, so be sure to fully grasp how gratitude and gossip play out in Age of Wushus social systems. After selecting a storyline, the game will give players some guided tasks. We recommend you do them, as they might result in Random Encounters!

MIRACLE ENCOUNTERS This is the type of encounter which is the most profitable and this is what we will be focusing on. These kind of encounters can only occur for VIP members. Usually an NPC from around the world will go out of their way to find you, they will cross maps to talk to you. If you check affinity with these NPCS, you will find that you never have 0 affinity with them. They always either like you or hate you. These are usually random NPCS which are not in fixed locations. Sometimes you have to build affinity or hatred with NPC B to make NPC A notice you.

How to increase your chances in random encounters? Since we now understand how random encounter work, so how do we increase the chances of triggering it ? The most basic way to increase ones chance in random encounter is to be high level and have a high reputation. But not everyone is high level and have a high reputation. Worry not, that is why you have purchased this guide! To increase your chances in random encounters, take note of the factors below : 1) Since random encounters are awarded to any random person in the zone, it helps that you are in an isolated zone so that when the system rolls a dice, there is a higher chance you will be selected. Solution : Be at isolated zones at your server and try to go online during non peak hours to quest or PVP. Also go to the designated spots during Non-Peak hours server time 2am-5am are good times. Do note that some REs only trigger during peak periods!

2)The more actions you perform, the higher chance of triggering a random encounter. Reason is because when the system rolls a dice, it will search for players who performed an action within the last 10 seconds. This is to reward active players, not bots of AFKs. Solution : Do not spend extensive periods being AFK. You might be wasting your chances. Perform actions such as dueling,team practice, attacking,crafting while you are active. Some REs will only trigger when you perform crafting or activity near the designated areas.

3)You will not get a random encounter by being in herbal hall or mysterious tailor shop. They do not spawn in these places!

4) Having Top Titles HELPS in spawning REs! Our top contributors have all spoken that the presence of titles does help in RE selection by the system. The specific titles tested which gave +1 RE each week were Top Meridians, Top Blacksmith, Top Tailor, Most Dangerous Criminal. We are sure that any of the Top titles does help in this aspect.

6)Random encounters have cool downs, cool downs differ based on the different RE. The cool downs range from once an hour, to once every 24 hours, to once every week (from last being triggered!)

Solution : Be at an isolated zone before the hour (1.00,2.00 ..etc). Remember the exact time when you got your RE, and be back exactly 1 day and 1 week later This helps take the system advantage to your favor. For Example: Speed up Without a Trace, the cooldown till the RE procs again is exactly 1 week (see later chapters)

What is Affinity and Hatred ? Winning the favor of NPCs is part of strategy in random encounters in Age of Wushu/Age of Wulin. The reason for this is will allow certain quests to be unlocked including the rare Miracle encounters which give good rewards, rare items, large quantities of trade able (unbound) silver and fragments of books on esoteric martial skills you cannot obtain otherwise in game. Many of the thousands of NPCs you encounter will form a disposition towards you as your path crosses them. Initially, their disposition to you is usually No impression. By interacting with them in the game world, you can cause them to like you more, raising the disposition eventually to Adoration. Conversely you can get them to dislike you intensely. Some miracle encounters are triggered only if certain NPCs hate you, so being friendly with NPCs is not always an advantage. How an NPC reacted to you is determined by its personality traits. In AoW, a generic NPC may have one of 14 personality traits. Each personality type will react to your behavior in different ways

Introduction Examples An NPC with the Hard working trait is pleased when he sees you engage in a mining activity or even setting up a stall in his sight. An NPC with the Lawful Good trait is unhappy when he sees you purchase something from a player with the Evil alignment who setup a stall in front of him. An NPC with the Sinister trait will be pleased if you kidnap someone in his sight. However, important NPCs has a more complex response. Also the NPCs traits can be further modified by his profession or even current interactions with other NPCs. For example a player with musical profession playing the Zither around some NPC musicians might make them unhappy because the NPC will view the player as competition. Sometimes just doing socially unacceptable actions can annoy certain NPCs. Mounted on your horse and sticking around them some NPCs are offended because they feel you are looking down on them, literally, while others are OK with it. Deliberately standing in front of NPC spectators watching some entertainment while blocking their view.

Since we know that we need to raise affinity to high how do we do it fast? Solution : Wine works well. It is our top item to give to NPCs, barring one other item which is more expensive but is faster.. If wine fails, do try gifting Sharks Fin it works wonders for certain NPCs. This method is more costly however, so be prepared.

This section will teach you step by step guides on how to activate the easier Random Encounters. However, our bread and butter has been farming Ancient Dog Beating staff and Speed Up Without a Trace (in later section contained) We will however also gain affinity with these NPCS when we are free to further maximize our income. With high affinity with all these important NPCS , random encounter rate is very high. So even if you miss out on Speed Up Without Trace RE, there is a pretty good chance we will score something else for the day.

Mysterious Jade Powder This item is used to refine jade armor to a higher tier. For example : Class-03 to 04. This gives the item higher roll of stats and general power to own anyone you wish. Worth : 1.5 Ding on market usually. And these get snapped up really fast so they are good money. That is why we have covered this first in our valuable items list

1)Goto Cheng Du and head to the bank (738,676) 2)Go upstairs the bank and you will find a table with people sitting around it. 3)Give food to Loan Officer's Assistant to build affinity with him 4)Give gifts to Dou Shenggang (Treasures work well)

5)Sit on the table to meditate every night for a week to make everyone like you except the East Chamber Official (Must make him dislike you) 6)The more the East Chamber Official hates you and the more Loan Officer's Assistant likes you, the higher your chance of getting this RE. It is THAT simple. This RE takes some time to setup but once the affinity is built up it is there for you to enjoy!

This will need at least 20 pieces a day. 3)This is a miracle encounter NPC so you can be in another city and he will look for you to give you a random workshop This method is still quite unknown to most players

Feather 1) Head to Cheng Du and go to (526,632 - Gamecock Arena) 2) You must be minimum Spiritually Balanced 3) Give Wine and Food to Neng Zhuandu while having Bounty (May work without bounty). Usually this NPC will look for you at 1800 server time so make sure you are top of his affinity list 4) NPC will approach you in other Zones (NOT Cheng Du)

Flat Peach 1) Go to Su Zhou and look for Wei Fajie who patrols around (777,487) 2) This NPC is very polite and patient. Just give him steamed buns till he likes you. 3) He will show up every now and then to give you a riddle which you must solve and he will give you the Flat Peach.

Nut This is for the Lightning Mink pet which also restores flying skills while you meditate. 1) Head towards Cheng Du and look for the Xun Ye at (1008,782). He is a policeman and patrols around the area 2) You Must have constable status and have GOOD Alignment 3) Give him treasures and do team practice in front of him 4) Be online at 1500 server time for a chance to trigger this RE. Do not wander in Cheng Du as it will decrease your chances.

Poison Toad, Blood Blade, Chaotic Yuan These Jianghu internal scroll fragments are quite fun to learn. If you want to get a unique internal skill then follow the below step by step guide. There is a chance to get either Poison Toad, Blood Blade, Chaotic Yuan fragments. This methodology below is not easy as you will need infamy and a bounty on you to enhance the affinity of the NPC which we have confirmed. You will need minimum Max Level for this RE. This is due to the nature of the Jianghu Inners being evil in nature perhaps?

Poison Toad, Blood Blade, Chaotic Yuan 1)Head towards LuoYang and look for Banben Huayin who is a Ninja at (1506,581) 2)Must have over 1000 infamy or bounty on you to increase affinity gained everytime you gift. You do not need to be Evil in alignment. 3)Give weapons and treasures to ninja. The higher the quality, the more affinity you will get. 4)Hang around Northern Dessert when you are free and kill random mobs for a chance to trigger this RE. Important that you are in Northern Desert. The NPC will meet you there. Thus far we are unable to confirm a server time which she appears, but it is likely to be after daily reset.

Poison Toad, Blood Blade, Chaotic Yuan 5)She will give you an item which leads you to an Old man on top of a building in the Northern Desert. A Map of Misplaced Item with Coordinates. 6)The old man will give you a compass and ask you to hunt darksteel. The compass will point to the lodestones. 7)After finding the material, return to the old man for a random script, the script can be one of the few Jianghu Internals..

Dog Beating Staff Beggar Sects Ultimate Style how can you get the fragments without paying 1 Ding per Fragment The RE for this set is roughly easy to attain but will be camped heavily by players who know the location. You can beat them to the RE by knowing the requirements

It is quite obvious from the name of the skill Dog Beating Staff that the quest line would have something to do with Dog mobs. It is and in fact in this case it would be Wild Dog mobs in Beggar Sect map. The general RE which gives the fragment book will ask you to catch some Wild Dogs for the beggars nearby (825,362). However you will need the following to trigger the event: Good Alignment (Good Points double Evil) Jianghu Reputation at minimum Rising Fame Enlightened Virtuoso Level Minimum Complete at least 1 Beggar Sect Map Task/Spy/Patrol

Go to these coordinates (825, 362), Beggar Sect and talk to all the NPCs there. This one will give the RE. Do not interact with anything else in map until you reach here You will need to complete at least 1 Beggar Spy/Patrol before this do not logoff after the Spy/Patrol Do note this RE has a DAILY cooldown

A Tested and tried method to help trigger this event is by gifting Dog Hair to the NPC (Tan Ken) Building good relationship with the beggar as well through gifting Wine and Steamed Buns. How many do you need? We strongly suggest around 100 pieces of Dog Fur and maybe 10 Wines. It should put you on top of the list to get this RE for the day. Other players will obtain the RE if otherwise

What happens next? After gifting the Dog Fur + Wine, the NPC will meet you (give you a random encounter) in another Map. Usually another school map or town. In our experience, the RE never happens in Beggar Map itself.

The RE Quest? You will receive this item Food Spiked with Sedatives from the Beggar who meets you. He then asks you to capture some dogs for him at the very same place. Just use the food on the dogs, and you will receive a fragment as a reward! This is well known across the forums. (see above)

Make friends by gifting Wine, Graduation Feasts and doing Team Practice in front of NPC This should be done until the NPC has full affinity to your character.

This is the next stop. If 9-Crane Taoist is liked already. The Royal Guard here is the next destination and if your good points and reputation are sufficient, meditating and doing Team Practice in front of this character will make him dislike you. This should be done until the relationship bar is fully maxed hatred.

Ancient fragments Triggering the RE Weekly Cooldown

Based on the 9-Yin servers, this is the place where a random NPC will appear and provide the Tai Chi Fist Fragment. The Chinese servers have indicated the NPC changes frequently, but either 2 associations can appear, Evil (RG) or Good (Emei) and make references to the secret scroll stolen from the Taoists.

Speed Up Without a Trace This is the grand-daddy of all REs and first of all lets clear some myths. If you do a search online on this Flying Skill you will know its available only through RE, and sold for approximately 2 Ding 500 Liang on the marketplace

Flying skills A Search online will also tell you the following NPCs give this flying skill: Egg Quest in Shaolin Feng Si in Wind Island Suzhou Bringing wine to villagers in Suzhou

All these are wrong with the exception of Feng Si, which however has been PATCHED by the developers after players started camping the NPC in Suzhou daily waiting for the RE cooldown to reset. She also only gives bounded version of the skill. So where is the NEWEST place where this flying skill is given. There are several locations actually but the one which we can confirm to work is revealed here. What do you need? Go inside the cave talk to the Old Poisoned Beggar. (375, 1022) Listen to gossip twice Save the gossip

As usual the gossip context does not matter but give you a guidance to the next NPC you need to talk to

Go further inside the cave and just near a pile of dead snakes you will find the next NPC Listen to his gossip as well. Just once and save it.

IMPORTANT DO NOT TALK TO TANG DISCIPLE JUST INSIDE THE CAVE FURTHER

Going further into the cave you will see the next NPC is Tang Disciple. Ignore him and move on. This has been tried and tested for those who talk to the Tang did not trigger the RE. Be warned. If you did talk to this NPC just zone out and repeat from step 1. Ignore all NPCs from here forth and continue in the cave!

Go to these coordinates (155, 1360) Do not interact with anything else in cave until you reach here There is King Snake here which you must kill.

There is a strange egg at (86, 1484) Make your way there and click a few times on the egg There should be just a word Strange that comes out from it

This is the trigger for the RE, and you have completed it all. If cooldown is up, RE will trigger as you walk away from the egg

Points to note: This is a WEEKLY Random Encounter

When you trigger it once, jot down the time, and come

back the EXACT same time next week

70% chance you will receive the flying skill again and again

If it is on cooldown, you need to be patient and keep trying. This is a confirmed methodology on US and EU servers
