Seniors Community Network Mission Statement
• Networking to effectively communicate and respond to seniors’ issues/needs within the CGS.
Vision Statement
• Provide easy access to information on available programs and/or services to service providers and to seniors at risk.
Goals/Objectives
• Work towards improving/maintaining communication and working relations amongst Seniors’ Service Providers.
• Effectively collaborate on issues affecting seniors.
• Develop/deliver educational forums which focus on issues related to seniors

Keeping Seniors Warm – Oct. 6
• Volunteers worked with 52 local older adults from within CGS gathering for an early Christmas celebration
• Warm soup & fresh sandwiches were served at Lockerby Legion while the Tremonics entertained.
• Shopping took place at Giant Tiger and all returned for High Tea
• Event was a great success!

Age Friendly Communities
• Priority across not only province but in Canada as well.
• Panel hosted two community forums to obtain community feedback regarding the planning of the CGS in receiving designation.
• Steering Committee for AFC was formed reporting directly to SAP

Ontario’s Age Friendly Initiative
• An age-friendly community (AFC) is a community where policies, services and physical spaces are designed to Planning Grant Program.
• Established by Ontario Seniors’ Secretariat, to offer assistance to Ontario communities in the planning process.
• AFCs contribute to good health and allow people to continue to participate fully in society throughout their lifetime.
(Ontario Seniors’ Secretariat, 2015a)

Age Friendly Community Planning Greater Sudbury’s Age-Friendly Profile
• A profile has been developed as a resource in supporting the CGS.
• Over 50 organizations from within the community provided information regarding programs and services offered to older adults.
• Information collected has been categorized into the 8 World Health Organization (WHO) age-friendly dimensions.
• Each pillar outlines a specific age-friendly dimension along with current resources available within Greater Sudbury for that dimension. The WHO’s checklist for each age-friendly was used as a reference.

The Community Survey!
• AFC Steering Committee formed.
• AFC Survey distribution has already started.
• Researchers from Laurentian University took the information gathered from two community forums to compile the survey.
• Approximately 7 Community Forums have been held to-date gathering over 100+ in-person surveys, as well as, over150 On line surveys have been completed.
