Tanning: The Silent Killer

By: Ashley Gadeken

Tanning Secession

• Welcome to the tanning bed, let us take all your troubles away.

• Sit back and relax as we warm your body comfortably.

• Enjoy!

Attention Media

• It has become so easy to get caught up in feeling the need to be tan.

• The media displays beautiful celebrities that radiate the natural looking glow.

• When one sees this they automatically feel the need to take action in this hobby so they too can look like that person.

American Society

• What we fail to see however is that this:

• Can lead to this:

Melanoma

• Melanoma is the number one leading skin cancer that is brought on by tanning in artificial tanning beds.

• This terrible cancer can end up taking your life!

• Bet the tanning beds do not have cautionary signs warning you of this horrible reaction to their product.

• Tanning needs to be banned; there are too many risks involved with this activity and this action is taking over America.

Banning Tanning CompletelyAlthough America is not quite to the point where we could ban tanning beds completely, we should at least place a restriction on the age limit for tanning. Young teens exude a sense of innocence and America should leave them with that sense of purity.

• In order to stop this disease causing death bed from affecting any more lives than it already has, America needs to get rid of this unhealthy hobby altogether.

• Since America is not quite ready for that yet, people of 18 years old and younger should not be allowed to tan.

• If these people want to risk their life once they turn 19 then go for it.

• But at least protect the innocence of America’s minors until then.

Think TwiceBefore you decide to cave into the temptation of this:

Think about how you could end up looking like this in the long run:
