MISSION
Lyceum Kennedy’s After School Program is offered to students from Preschool to High School. We strive to provide a safe, supervised environment for children and teenagers that increases school and community connectedness, academic achievement, physical activity and social skills. These organized group activities give students a chance to socialize with others students, strengthen friendships and make new ones while learning. Our teachers and activity vendors are experienced and knowledgeable. We provide a well-rounded curriculum that is designed to challenge and entertain your children, while helping them realize their full potential. Homework help is provided each afternoon, from Monday through Friday.
GENERAL INFORMATION Please review each activity’s description to find out important details such as age range, fee, teacher and schedule. Fees are for the entire semester. Please note that all activities are subject to cancellation if the minimum number of students enrolled is not reached. If an instructor is absent, students will go to After School Care or Homework help.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION TO REGISTER 1) On August 31st 2015 at 5pm, you will have access to register for the after school programs. 2) Review the options listed and choose the activities you like. 3) Payment(s) must be made through the Lyceum Kennedy account receivables staff, Mr. Yves-Laurent Muls, with the payment form (See TERMS AND CONDITIONS for participation payment options). Note: After school program registration will start on August 31st, 2015 at 5pm and end on September 3rd, 2015 at 5pm.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION

1. Failure to pay: My child will not be able to participate or to continue participating to any activity of the After School Program until Lyceum Kennedy receives the payment related to the chosen payment option.
2. Fees are scheduled for the semester. No refunds are made once the program has started. I shall not be entitled to any refund for any absence or illness of my child from the After School Program. No refunds are made if a child misses any activity. This includes cancellation because of inclement weather conditions. The fee will not be pro-rated if my child misses one or several activities because of a delay in my payment(s).
3. Full payment is due on September 10th 2015 or upon your child’s confirmed registration. 4. Depending on the activity, a material fee will be charged for the semester the activity is offered (fees range from $20 - $50). 5. There is a minimum enrollment of 5 students per program. We reserve the right to cancel the program if the enrollment
is not met. All programs have also a maximum enrollment. I need register early to be guaranteed a spot. 6. If my child is going to miss a class, please email the After School Coordinator at [email protected]. 7. My child is required to demonstrate appropriate conduct. If my child repeatedly fails to behave, the After School
Coordinator has the right to dismiss my child from any activity. 8. If my child is injured and requires medical attention and I cannot be reached for instruction, a representative of Lyceum
Kennedy will call 911 and accompany my child to the closest emergency room. 9. Late fee pick-up policy: Parent/legal guardian is responsible to pick-up their child(ren) once the after school program is
over. If my child is not picked-up by 4:40 pm for the 1st session and by 5:40 pm for the 2nd session, a late fee of $30 every 15 minutes will be charged and invoiced to the parent/legal guardian. Any period started is due.

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION
Lyceum Kennedy offers private instruction for music classes as well as private tutoring. Private tutoring will be charged $60 per hour. Private music instruction will be charged $450 for the semester. Your child now has the opportunity to learn some of the world’s finest instruments with a professional musician. This activity is opened to the pupils of the Elementary as well as Middle and Upper School students. Each week, a new musical topic will be discovered, and explored. Over the course of the semester, students will encounter concept areas of rhythm, melody, harmony, form and expression, and will develop their musicianship, listening skills, song writing abilities, improvisatory and creative prowess, and so much more! Piano (½ hour private session & ½ hour after school care or homework help): Mr Saraga is available to teach piano on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 3:40 pm, 4:10 pm, 4:40 pm and 5:10 pm, as well as on Thursday at 4:40pm and 5:10pm, to students from Nursery to 6th grade. Trumpet (1 hour session in semi-private instruction, maximum 5 students per group): Mr Saraga is available to teach trumpet on Friday at 3:40 pm for 3-5 grades, and at 4:40 pm from 6th grade. * No trumpet provided. Students must either have their own trumpets or lease one. (Please see with Mr. Saraga.) About the instructor: Jonathan Saraga holds both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees. He is the winner of the 2007 International Trumpet Guild Jazz Solo Competition and one of five finalists in the 2009 Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Competition. He has participated in selective international intensive programs such as the 2010 School for Improvisational Music Summer intensive in NYC, and the 2015 Banff Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music in Alberta, Canada. 6

Swimming lessons will be given at the YMCA (224 E 47th) by a YMCA instructor. Students will be chaperoned by two LK teachers who will take them to the YMCA and will bring them back to LK after the class. Parents will pick up their children at the school. In this workshop - run by our new arts and music teacher Mrs Liza Gabri - students will experiment with different kinds of matter (paper, vegetables, water, everyday objects, etc.) in order to create artistic and musical objects. Students will build music instruments, modify everyday objects, create a musical and visual story (with paint and imagined instruments), etc. Recycled materials such as objects, old toys, caps or boxes will be needed during the different sessions. For the first session, students are asked to bring different types of paper, and also come with a smock or an old shirt. * A material fee will be charged for this activity.

JAPANESE Language Instruction
Students will learn systematic Japanese language through an enjoyable structured learning process. They will use a very popular Japanese textbook for young. Keiko Kobayashi completed Japanese Language Instructors Qualification Course in 1999. Since then, she has taught Japanese language at Lyceum Kennedy and the Japanese American Society of New Jersey where she was a director. Currently, she teaches at LK Japanese School. Recently, she joined the Japan Society as a Japanese language instructor.
