Classes begin with stretching and warm-up exercises. Students are then taught dance techniques across the floor to their favorite songs while using fun props. WEBBY Dance Company instructors are energetic, positive and fun. Limit 15 students.

Fall Arts and Crafts by Ms. Hua*GRADES: K – 3rd / Mondays, 2:50 – 3:50 - $160 / Class 4B

Students will work with a variety of materials and learn different art styles such as realism, impressionism and surrealism, which will correlate with the themes of the months and season. Students will also create seasonal holiday crafts. Limit 20 students.

TUESDAYCooking Class by LIFT EnrichmentGRADES: K - 8th / Tuesdays, 2:50 – 3:50 - $250 / Conference Room / Register online at www.LIFTenrichment.com

Kids will learn to cook Mediterranean classics in this fun, hands-on cooking class. Professional chefs will teach kids to expand their palates, try new foods and learn a variety of fast, easy recipes they can make at home. All recipes are nut-free & have vegetarian options. A digital cookbook with all of the recipes will be emailed to participants. On the last day of class, parents are invited to our Kid Restaurant, where they can see what their kids learned! Limit 15 students.

Homework Habits Club by Ms. Engle*GRADES: 1st - 5th / Tuesdays, 2:50 – 3:50 - $125 / Class 1A

Students will receive help and support in all school subjects’ homework in a structured, safe, and quiet environment to start the year off right! Homework Habits will strive to instill organizational skills, time management abilities, good work habits, and a sense of accomplishment in each student. We'll play educational games or have opportunities to create with S.T.E.A.M. challenges with any free time! Limit 15 students.

Read, Write and Publish by Ms. Taylor*GRADES: 5th - 8th / Tuesdays, 2:50 – 4:00 - $170 / Class 7B

Read a wide range of literature from fantasy to nonfiction while improving comprehension skills and character analysis. Strengthen explanato-ry, narrative, and opinion writing using the stories read. Learn about the world of publishing and get the opportunity to publish your own work using traditional and/or online tools. Limit 15 students.

WEDNESDAYOrigami & Jr. Magicians by Strategic KidsGRADES: 1st – 4th / Wednesdays, 2:50 – 3:50 - $110 / Conference Room /Register online at www.strategickids.com

This magical class promotes public speaking through the performance art of magic! Students will receive 5 classes each of magic and Origami. Children will develop motor skills, learn teamwork, and enhance performance skills. Curriculum designed to fit the needs of all skill levels. Limit 15 students.

Bible Study by Ms. Rinker*GRADES: 3rd – 5th / Wednesdays, 2:50 – 3:50 - $135 / Class 2B

Want your child to learn more about the bible? Looking to grow your child’s faith in God in a safe and fun environment? Come join Ms. Rinker for fun-filled bible adventures! We will focus on different passages in the Bible to gain a better understanding on how it applies to our lives today. Limit 15 students.

Snap the Gap: littleBits by Mrs. Sandford*GRADES: 4th - 7th girls / Wednesdays, 2:50 – 3:50 - $125 / Makerspace

We NEED more girls in STEM! Snap the Gap™ is a non-profit initiative designed to empower, excite, encourage and engage girls in STEM topics, with the aim of closing the gender gap in these fields. Participants will receive STEM Snap the Gap Inventor Kit, Mentorship, and a 1-year membership to JAM.com. Limit 15 students.

Woodworking Club by Mr. Nguyen & Mr. LanderoGRADES: 5th – 8th / Wednesdays, 2:50 – 3:50 - $180 + $25 for materials / Class 8A and Jr. High Courtyard

A very fun introductory course in woodworking. Students will be working hands-on, learning sanding and staining techniques as well as the different types of finishes. Projects may include a wooden cross, picture frame, and bible stand. Limit 15 students.

Students will gather to play board games and have some good old-fashioned fun! We’ll try some classic games like Sorry, Clue, Life, Monopoly, Charades, Checkers, Boggle, Yahtzee, and of course Chess! Bring your own games to share if you’d like! Limit 18 students.

Musical Theater Production of “Aladdin Jr.” by Center Stage StudioGRADES: 1st – 8th / Thursdays, 2:50 – 4:50 - $295 + $25 for materials / Hall / Register online at www.TheCenterStageStudio.com

CSS/OLQA Musical Theater Production is a weekly class with a production at the end of the trimester both at OLQA for fellow students as well as at the CSS Main Stage Theater in Aliso Viejo. Limit 28 students.

High School Placement Test Prep by Mrs. Mang & Mrs. Hennessey*GRADE: 8th / Thursdays, 2:50 – 3:50 - $120 + $30 for materials / Class 8B

Current 8th graders looking to attend a Catholic high school next fall will be taking the High School Placement Test (HSPT) in January. This course will help students prepare for the test by reviewing grammar, reading comprehension, analogies, synonyms/antonyms, quantitative reasoning, math concepts, problem-solving skills and test taking strategies. Limit 25 students.

Students will be introduced to the basic skills of basketball by workinghands-on in dribbling, passing, shooting, and defending. Once fundamentals are learned, students will participate in game-like simulations. Each student will receive an appropriate size basketball to use in the class and to keep. Limit 20 students.

Students will learn about gears, levers, basic electronics and mechanical advantage while building projects such as a mechanical golf club, a spinning top machine, and Snappy the Alligator! This is a fun and challenging class in which students will have a chance to earn a medal and receive prizes and awards on the final day. Limit 30 students.

Students will also learn about the parts of a debate and how to write accurate and informative pieces based on facts that will win any argument. Students will create documents and presentations, and practice techniques to improve presentation skills that will be useful for the upcoming school year. In addition to public speaking and debate activities, students will participate in Philosophical Chairs and Socratic Seminar. Limit 15 students.

Students will learn problem-solving strategies and practice these through puzzles, brainteasers, activities and games. Learning logic helps students think outside the box, think for themselves, use reasoning and proof to solve problems and tackle problems with concentration and focus. Ultimately, students will find these skills to benefit them in the classroom and in life. Limit 15 students.

Projects may include photograph transfer to wood, candle holder, stationery organizer, and step stool. Limit 15 students.

FRIDAYTennis By Higgins TennisGRADES: K – 2nd / Fridays, 2:50 – 3:50 - $238 / Blacktop / Register online at https://www.higginstennis.com/schoolsLearn tennis on the perfect sized mini-tennis court that is just the right size! We provide the racket, softer and larger low-bouncing balls, and teach all the stroke fundamentals and the basics of rallying. Students incorporate what they have learned into games like "Feed the Monkeys", "Skyball", and "Castle". For beginners or players with little to some tennis experience. All kids earn earn ribbons by demonstrating their stroke and playing skills. Just like belts in Karate, every time a child earns a ribbon it builds their confidence and self-esteem. Limit 9 students

Golf By Golf SquadGRADES: 1st – 5th / Fridays, 2:50 – 3:50 - $253 / Carson Field / Register online at https://golfsquad.com/school/our-lady-queen-of-angels/Golf Squad is for new and continuing students to learn the technical swing mechanics as well as the social skills required to enjoy golf, the clubs, and golf course all under the instruction of an LPGA or PGA Professional. Classes promote important life skills that are intrinsic to the game such as honesty, integrity, and respect. Golf is a challenging and fun sport that can lead to college scholarships. Even if your child already plays, it is great to enjoy weekly, convenient lessons from a pro. Handbooks, hats, clubs, and all equipment are provided. Parents receive a weekly email describing class activities and accomplishments. Limit 15 students.

Welcome to Our Lady Queen of Angel’s After School Enrichment Program for the 2019-2020 school year!

It is with great pleasure the school presents this broad selection of diverse extracurricular topics for students to explore.

The teachers and vendors hosting these classes are excited to encourage students to grow, discover and develop new skills, all

while having a fun and engaging time.

Please look over the descriptions, days, times and costs for each of the classes offered this year. Classes will run for 10 weeks each

trimester. Flyers for the individual classes with additional information will be posted on the school website. You can access the After School Enrichment Program brochure and class flyers at

www.olqaschool.org under the “Life at OLQA” tab.

To register for classes offered by OLQA teachers please complete an ASEP Registration Form, which can also be found on the school website, and turn it in to the office. On this form, parents can register each of their children for any of the classes offered by OLQA teachers. Payment will be made by check to the office. Registration for classes offered by outside vendors will still be

done directly through the vendors' websites.

Please keep in mind that each class has a limited number of spaces, so be sure to act quickly and register before they fill up!
