Revisit the battle cries and glories of war by visiting notable sites including the Patrick
Cleburne Confederate Cemetery, Warren House and the location of the Battle of
Jonesboro.
Located in downtown Jonesboro, the Patrick Cleburne Confederate Cemetery contains a mass grave numbering between
600 and 1,000 soldiers. The Warren House, built in 1840 by G.L.
Warren, was used as a field hospital by both Confederate and Union troops
during the Civil War. Considered one of the most decisive battles of the Civil
War, the 1864 Battle of Jonesboro enabled victorious Union soldiers to
cut off Jonesboro’s railroad supply line effectively cutting off supplies to Atlanta
and forcing the city to surrender. Today, visitors are invited to reflect and explore
Clayton County’s Civil War history. www.VisitScarlett.com - 800.662.7829
