2. Atlantic slave trade was a start of the modern samba, blues, jazz, reggae, rap, and rock and roll.

3. African hip hop is a particular form of music from Senegal blended with traditional Mbalax, and Kwaito.

4. A variety of musical instruments are used, including drums, bells, musical bow, lute, flute, and trumpet.

◊ Africa contains millions of languages.◊ There are 4 main language families that

are divided in Africa. Afro-Asiatic, Nilo-Saharan, Niger-Congo, and Khoisan.

◊ Each of the language family speaks all different kind of languages.

◊ There are sooo many different languages in Africa that we have trouble counting them!

Baha’I. ◊ The African people believed in ancestors, and spirits.

◊ Timbuktu is an ancient city in Mali. ◊ “Tin” means “place” and “buktu” a name of

an old Malian woman known for her honest.◊ Populated with Songhay and other places

and it’s about 15km north of the Niger River.

◊ Was first built up by the nomadic Tuareg. (early 10th century)

◊ After the decline of Mali, the Geo Kingdom re-powered itself as the major kingdom in Sahel. Songhay kingdom in the region of Gao had been existing since the 11th century, but came in under control of Mali in 13th century.
