AFRICA OIL & POWER 2018
EVALUATION
INDEPENDENTPOWERPRODUCERSOFFICE
For the third year running, Cape Town hosted the flagship Africa Oil & Power conference, connecting Africa’s top leaders in the petroleum and power sectors. After 2018’s successful AOP conference, the sem-inar remains the premier platform for energy investment and policy discussions for the entire continent.
AOP 2018 once again followed the successful formula of inviting min-isters, senior government officials and top executives from the pri-vate sector from across Africa to lead the conversation on the state of Africa’s oil, gas and power sectors, and to identify the continent’s greatest opportunities.Africa Oil & Power’s theme for 2018 concentrated on the best way to drive Africa’s energy sectors forward — through energy coalitions, from regional cooperation at the government level and private com-panies coordinating on development and financing deals to how the private and public sectors can collaborate together.
AOP was honored this year to present by H.E. Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo, Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, the “Africa Oil Man of the Year Award” for his commitment to coalition-building throughout the energy sector and in recognition of OPEC’s landmark Declaration of Cooperation, which is largely credited with rescuing the oil and gas sector.
AOP 2018 was a place to address urgent questions facing the oil and power sectors, and was the place in Africa to re-imagine old alliances and forge new relationships.
