John and Denise Pinto had inmind exactly the kind of homethey wanted to build for theirfamily. Mrs Pinto had beencollecting cuttings from magazinesand putting them together, so shefigures she has incorporated thebest features of several homes.

The colonial style with itsbullnose veranda, gables andfinials gives it a contemporaryAustralian street presence. Inside,space has been used to a premium,with big rooms and a hugeopen-plan kitchen andentertaining area.

With three children aged from10 to 14, the Pintos have created ahome the family can grow into andenjoy. “There’s nothing here Idon’t like,” Mrs Pinto said.

“It was great having a smallbuilder; Mulvay Builders werereally hands on and it only took sixmonths, with some help from John(a plumber) and his painterbrother!”
