Color Analysis

Objectives To discern color range, intensity, scheme and composition of a work of art .To develop a color palette based on a specific inspirational pieceTo understand the various color relationship.To understand the emotions tied to various colors.To identify examples of color relationship is fashion that elicit the feelings and emotions discussed for each color.

Learning Outcomes The depicted color relationship is complementary.

The inspiration picture is “Termonde on the Seine” by Monet. It is serene, while being simple and beautiful.

The new color forecast : sky blue, magenta, emerald and mustard.

Each piece displayed in the layout represents the sky blue and magenta tones. They are easy pieces that can fit into any outfit.

Unity & Variety

Objectives To recognize how Variety can be achieved through contrast of the design elements.To recognize how Variety can be achieved through contrast of the design elements.To comprehend how Unity and Variety are displayed in apparel.To create the intended Unity and Variety to capture and attractive impression through aesthetic experience.

Learning Outcomes One of the principles of unity used in the design was repetition, this sis shown by the occurrence of the same patterns used in different garments throughout the line. Also unity in apparel can be seen through the matching boys and accessories to define the look and unite the line. Variety was used by the designer as the pattern s were used to create a variety of different types of garments. Some of the patterns and accessories used contrast in color to make the garments stand out .Also Diane Von Furstenbergs’ Spring 2010 resort line ,which is what was used in the design, exemplified the idea of variation in themes.

Design Principles

Balance, Rhythm & Emphasis

Objectives To identify the important relationship between Balance, Rhythm and Emphasis.To understand the variety of Balance, for example, symmetrical, asymmetrical, horizontal, vertical and radial balance.To understand the types of Rhythm, for example, metric, flowing, swirling and climate rhythm.To understand how Emphasis can be achieved by color, light and shape, and crated by contrast, isolation and placement.

Learning OutcomesStructural balance is used in this piece by having an equal distribution of the models throughout the page. Also the page has a symmetrical balance.In the same manner the equal spacing creates a natural rhythm , and the larger picture in the middle creates flowing .This technique also allows the large, centered item to be emphasized.

Objectives To recognize that Proportion is the sixe relationship of parts within a whole.To recognize that Scale is the size relationship to an outside unit of measurement.To comprehend how Proportion and Scale are displayed in apparel.To create the intended Proportion and Scale to capture an attractive impression through aesthetic experience

Learning Outcomes The chair exemplifies scale and proportion. The Taj Mahahal represents symbolic scale, as it was built so large to a honor the emperors wife that died so young. While most architecture uses the human scale for a basis of design. Clothing is designed in a way to make the wear look as if they have societies desired proportions.
