Internal Honeywell ONLY Internal Honeywell AND Supplier Details: This alert discusses changes that will affect all suppliers and HON sites that perform Etch Inspection and Pre-Penetrant Etch processes. Please review the changes and ensure that the new requirements are followed. 1) A new Chemical Process family, Etch Inspection, has been added to the APSL, and new approval codes created. Existing APSL approvals have been transferred to the new Etch Inspection family approval codes shown, and the old approval codes will be removed: a. CP.EI.BE for Blue Etch Anodize (Replaces CP.CLE.B) b. CP.EI.ME for Macro Etch (Replaces CP.CLE.M) c. CP.EI.TE for Temper (Nital) Etch (Replaces NDT.NE) 2) The Etch Inspection family requires Nadcap accreditation per checklist AC7108/2, with the appropriate processes included in the Nadcap audit scope. 3) APSL approval for any Etch Inspection process requires a Source Certifying Agent (SCA) a. SCA certificates issued prior to 12-DEC-2016, for Cleaning/Etch, are valid until they expire, and may be used to support Etch Inspection process approvals. b. As of 12-DEC-2016,SCA Candidates (both new and renewals) are required to take the new PRI eQuaified Etch Inspection examinations as detailed in SPOC 165.7 document (location available in 6a below)

Details: This alert discusses changes that will affect all suppliers and HON sites that perform Etch Inspection and Pre-Penetrant Etch processes. Please review the changes and ensure that the new requirements are followed.

1) A new Chemical Process family, Etch Inspection, has been added to the APSL, and new approval codes created. Existing APSL approvals have been transferred to the new Etch Inspection family approval codes shown, and the old approval codes will be removed:

a. CP.EI.BE for Blue Etch Anodize (Replaces CP.CLE.B)

4) Pre-Penetrant Etch is NOT considered an Etch Inspection process, and requires Nadcap accreditation per checklist AC7108/15

a. The approval code for Pre-Penetrant Etch, CP.CLE.F, has NOT changed

b. SCA certificates issued prior to 12-DEC-2016, for Cleaning/Etch, are valid until they expire, and may be used to support Pre-Penetrant Etch process approvals.

c. As of 12-DEC-2016, SCA Candidates and Honeywell APSL Auditors (CA or PA) for Pre-Penetrant Etch (both new and renewals) are required to take either of these:

i. The new PRI eQuaLified “Pre-Penetrant Etch” examination as detailed in SPOC 165.7 document (location available in 6a below), OR

ii. The Honeywell CP/CLN/ETCH exam (PR000015)

5) SCA candidates and Honeywell APSL Auditors (CA or PA) for Etch Inspection will be required to pass the new PRI eQuaLified exams after 12-DEC-2016

6) The new PRI eQuaLified “Etch and Etch Inspection” exams allow candidates to select the topics needed, and the topics will be combined into a single customized exam. A Planner Level exam is required, and the appropriate topics shall be selected (Blue Etch Anodize, Macrostructure Etch, Temper (Nital) Etch, Pre-Penetrant Etch).

a. To determine if approvals require an SCA, and instructions on how to become an SCA, see SPOC 165.7 document found at the following location; Honeywell Supplier Portal (HASP): https://hasp.honeywell.com, from the HASP menu, select > Docs > Documents > Quality > SPOC > Supporting Documents. Please note, this is a revision controlled document and care should be taken to ensure you have the latest revision.

b. Honeywell APSL Auditors instructions and application form can also be found in an attachment within the SPOC 165.7 document (location listed above).

c. A summary of the new Etch and Etch Inspect Exams can be found at http://p-r-
