Advisory to PhD Candidates

Every candidate will be required to make a presentation on his / her proposed research area.

A candidate may contact approved supervisor of Gujarat Technological University to discuss his /

her research area. He / She can specify his / her preferred supervisor out of the list of Gujarat

Technological Universitys approved supervisors. But the final allocation of each candidate to a

supervisor shall be done by Gujarat Technological University.

1) The schedule for presentation shall be put on the website www.gtu.ac.invery soon.

2) Name and contact details of supervisor under whom they wish to work.3) Proposed Topic of Research.

4) Broad area of research.

5) Literature review comprising of Journal papers which indicate the need for the research.

6) Objectives and broad scope of research.

7) Candidates are required to submit a report of 4 to 5 pages which includes above details at the

time of their presentation.

Once a candidate has been allocated to a supervisor, he / she will be required to complete all

the requirements for provisional registration for the PhD Program. The requirements will include

filling up the forms, paying fees at the University etc.

Selected candidates shall be provisionally admitted to Gujarat Technological University. They

will be allocated to institutions where they shall carry out their research.

The course work shall comprise of one course on Research Methodology and one or more

course(s) on a subject / subjects as prescribed by his / her Doctoral Committee, in the first semester.

If an appropriate arrangement for teaching a particular subject or subjects cannot be made at

the institution, where the candidate is carrying out his / her research, he / she may be required to

study at another place, specified by the University.

Once a candidate has successfully cleared the courses and continues to make progress in his

/ her research work, he / she will be eligible for registration for the PhD Program.

For final registration, the candidates shall have to make a presentation of their finalized topicof Research along with a comprehensive literature review, objectives, scope work plan and work

done so far. The candidates shall be registered only if their research proposal is accepted by the

Doctoral Progress Committee.
