ear lobules, extraction of urinary stones, closer of intestinal perforation, surgery for cataract are some of the golden examples. During post independent period this discipline has further developed by the continuous efforts made by eminent legend like Prof P J Deshpandey & his colleague Dr P S Sankaran , Prof L M Singh, Prof G C Prasad , Prof K R Sharma & Prof M Sahu at Banaras Hindu University. They have con-tributed immensely to develop this discipline and the department become torch bearer in field of Ay-urveda. At present the department of Shalya Tantra is performing majority of surgical works on principles of Sushruta’s which are impregnated with modern sciences & technology. During last 50 years the de-partment has developed many concepts and modali-ties of teaching training and patient care. In addition to this, many other institutions also have contributed immensely for over all development of surgical disci-pline of Ayurveda. This proposed conference is fo-cused to exchange the ideas on a common platform to share the experiences in field of research and practice. The conference envisages to broadly discuss on various issues related to surgical practices in Ay-urveda , recent advances and researches in the field. Kashi also known as Banaras and Varanasi, is the oldest heritage city of the world. It showed the path of spiritual light of Vedas, music, art, medicine, knowledge and cultural heritage since pre-historic era to the present. Some of the great sons of the soil who were associated with 'Kashi' by birth or by work are Kapila, Sushruta, Dhanwantari, Tulsi, Kabir, St Ravidas, Bharat Ratna Mahamana Pt. Madan Mohan Malviyaji, Prem Chand, Radha Krishnan, Annie Be-sant, Sampurnanand and Lal Bahadur Shastri. Kashi continues to be a religious and educational centre of India having four Universities and a dozen of Guru-kuls to impart Vedic wisdom and Yoga besides con-temporary modern education. We are looking for-ward to welcome you in the holy city Varanasi.
