Who is my Adviser of Studies?
Meeting my adviser
Your Adviser will contact you within the first two weeks of the new session. This will be by email. In 2021-22, initial meeting will likely be held by Zoom/Microsoft Teams.
Initial meeting is just to allow your Adviser to introduce themselves to you.
Your adviser will then contact you to arrange another meeting early in Semester 2.
You can ask to see your adviser any time.
If you can’t make contact with your Adviser, you are free to contact your Senior Adviser, the Chief Adviser or (for Engineering students) the School Teaching Office.

• Represent ALL students of the University, whether a mature student, an international student, part-time, doing a post-graduate qualification or straight from school
• It’s a student-led organisation, run by a council including 30 student members and an executive formed by sabbatical and non-sabbatical officers. All registered students of the University have the right to vote and can stand for elections, which usually take place in October and March every year.
• It runs a free, impartial and confidential Advice Centre which can help you with anything from academic matters to housing, financial and welfare advice.
Summary
• There is a LOT of support available at the University for students
• But we can only help you if you tell us you need that help.
• Your Adviser is there to be your first point of contact for any question or concern you might have.
• They won’t always have the answers, but they will know where the answers can be found.
