The Advent penance service for our pastoral region will be 7pm on Tuesday, December 4 at St. Julie Billiart. If it has been a while since your last confession, Advent and Lent are opportune times to return to the grace of the Sacrament(s).
We begin the season of Advent today. Advent is Latin for “coming toward.” God is coming toward us to bring salvation, redemption from darkness, freedom from sin and death. It is a time of waiting and a time of preparation. We look forward with courage and strength because God has promised a Messiah, a Savior, and this God keeps his promises. In “Las Posadas” and in the story of the Nativity we hear that there was no room for Jesus in the Inn. We prepare so that he will find a room in our hearts.
Prominent during this season is Mary, Mother of God and star of our hope. You might see her on Christmas cards or even on stamps. You will see her in nativity scenes, in your home, in public, on TV and internet videos. We also celebrate her feast of the Immaculate Conception on December 8 (patronal feast day for our country, the United States). We will have a packed house at 10pm on December 11 to welcome in Our Lady of Guadalupe’s feast on the 12th. Mary is honored as Mother of God in our liturgies on January 1.
I hope some of you will enjoy St. Julie’s Christmas concert this afternoon at 4pm as part of the German Village Christmas Walk. If you are going to a Saturday Mass for the Immaculate Conception or the early vigil at St. Joseph, you might enjoy a Sing-along Messiah with the Butler Philharmonic at West Chester Church of the Nazarene, 7pm Friday, December 7.
Prepare your heart to receive our Savior who is coming near.

Natural Family Planning “By its very nature the institution of marriage and married love is ordered to the procreation and education of the offspring and it is in them that it finds its crowning glory.” ...the Catechism of the Catholic Church #1652. For more information about natural family planning, go to www.ccli.org or call 471-2000.
Thanksgiving Day Mass. We are thankful for all of them! Fr. Richmond and his classmate Fr. Terry celebrated 15 years of Ordination.
Hamilton Deanery Caregiver Group: The Advent and Christmas seasons can be especially diffi-cult for caregivers and their loved ones. You are NOT alone. Many people, even those who are not caring for a loved one, are highly emotional during the holidays. For many, the holiday season can often give rise to stress, frus-tration and anger, instead of peace and good will. Join us this month as we support each other and remind ourselves of the true gifts of the season. There are groups in your area at St. Aloysius in Shandon (meets Thursday, December 13th at 12:30 pm), Doverwood Village in Fairfield Township (meets Friday, December 14th at 10:00 am), and St. John the Baptist in Harrison (meets Wednesday, December 19th at 7:00 pm). These groups are here for you! Please call the Caregiver CAREline at (513) 869-4483 or visit www.ccswoh.org/caregivers for more information. Sponsored by the Caregiv-er Assistance Network, a program of Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio funded through the Council on Aging.
Retirement Fund for Religious
Next Week—December 8/9
Support the Retirement Fund for
Religious. Do you remember the
sisters, brothers, or religious order
priests who made a positive differ-
ence in your life? Today many are
elderly and need assistance. Their
religious communities struggle to
meet retirement needs while contin-
uing to serve the People of God.
Please give to next week’s
Collection.

Lectors should be at least 7th grade. EMHC are to be Baptized and Confirmed. We are also in need of a couple more Sacristans for both the 5:15 and 10:30 Masses. Sacristans open the church and set up for Mass. They also close the church after Mass.
