Getting the right nutrients by eating a healthy diet is very important to children’s well-being and growth. However, sometimes getting children to eat the foods that are good for them presents a challenge. If you are a parent of a picky eater, you might use some new approaches to encourage your child to eat more nutritious foods.
First of all, try incorporating fruits and vegetables into meals your child enjoys eating.
Picky EatersFor instance, you could put shredded zucchini or
another type of vegetable into spaghetti sauce or pieces of fruit in pancakes. Additionally, you might consider making children more active participants in food selection and preparation. Let children select vegetables at the supermarket, for example, or ask them to help in the kitchen while making a dish. They may be eager to eat the food when it is mealtime. Finally, reduce temptation by keeping foods such as sweets and salty snacks hidden away. Instead, keep some nutritious snacks on hand, such as fruit and a dipping sauce.
