Advertising is part of the overall marketing strategy of a business.
History of Advertising
If you think that advertising is a modern phenomenon, think again. The earliest forms of advertising, of course, would have been through word of mouth.

By the 17th century, newspaper advertisements made their way in England
First with TV, followed by Cable TV, and now with the development of Internet, the very face of advertising has changed.

Remind customers and potential customers of the benefits of your products or services
Establish and maintain your distinct identity, and brand.
Build sales to boost your bottom line.

1) Content Advertising:-The first type of advertising technique is content advertising. It basically uses content to draw visitors’ attention. It is the main type of advertising technique because the entire internet is made up of content (or information).
2) Link Advertising:-This type of advertising technique typically uses a short link with some description to attract the visitors directly to your website.
3) Viral advertising:-This kind of advertising technique is similar to word of mouth advertising in the offline world. The idea is to encourage your existing traffic to bring more traffic to your website.
4) Incentives advertising:-The forth type of advertising technique is incentives advertising where the traffic is rewarded to visit your website.5) Obtrusive advertising:-The
last type of advertising technique is obtrusive advertising where the traffic is forced to view your ad. The most typical examples are popup and pop under advertising.

• This is an advertisement found in Vancouver during the National Non-Smoking Week. The car was placed at the Vancouver Art Gallery and the message reads ‘Death from car accidents: 370, Death from smoking-related causes: 6,027, Quit now before it kills you.’
