WHY THE 2ND ANNUAL MARK SQUARED ANNIVERSARY BLOCK PARTYThe Mark SQuared Block Party is our thank you to the community, friends, filmmakers, artists, actors, artisans, musicians, motivators, entertainers and entrepreneurs who helped Mark Squared grow and prosper this year. It is our mission to be temporary vessels to help others along their creative paths, however raising a Creative Community takes a village and without the support of others we would not be able to do what we do! We want to show you thanks!

The Mark SQuared Block Party is a community fun day celebrating Creativity UNboxed. The Mark Squared Block Party showcases filmmakers, artists, actors, artisans, musicians, motivators, entrepre-neurs and entertainers throughout Metropolitan Atlanta. For 1 evening we will transfer our corner of Clarkston Industrial Blvd in Clarkston GA into a series of stages, lounges, work rooms and cafes for your creative enjoyment. Mark Squared is as diverse as our home city and all about independent film, art, music and culture. The block party will feature independent booths many with an international twist, musicians from all corners of the world, health screenings, choirs, DJs, a cultural fashion show, food trucks, and local non-profits. The day will benefit MADIOC, The Soul Alliance and Mark SQuared’s production of The Carousel: A Poetry Based Musical.

The Carousel is a Poetry Based Musical Stage Play written-directed-scored by Herbert Bowen’s a featured dancer in Drumline and Stomp the Yard. The Carousel is about Cierra, a creative young lady who just can’t seem to live up to her full potential. The final draw comes when unable to complete an important task Cierra is transported to a magical place called “The Carousel “the place where unfulfilled dreams go. While exploring “The Carousel” Cierra meets Ma Stanza and the other inhabitants who teach her how to finish what she starts, to believe in her dreams and fight for her voice in the world. But before Cierra can return home she’ll have to outwit an entire poetry slam team with her poetry and rhyming skills in the battle of her life.
