Foo Fighters I specifically chose to analyse an advert that wasn't associated with the R&B genre. This was because I wanted to get an idea of how other genres were portrayed so that I can use its features if I wanted to challenge the conventions of an R&B advert. Foo Fighters are an alternative Rock group since 1995. The imagery used in this advert (the steel background with the Red Symbol) denotes a solid/powerful persona of the group. It also attributes to their band name 'Fighters'. This persona is also suggested through the contrasting colours - The red, black and grey, the explosive red makes the symbol stand out as though making a statement - 'BUY ME' The main image is central which makes it the main focal point.

Foo Fighters

• I specifically chose to analyse an advert that wasn't associated with the R&B genre. This was because I wanted to get an idea of how other genres were portrayed so that I can use its features if I wanted to challenge the conventions of an R&B advert.

•Foo Fighters are an alternative Rock group since 1995. The imagery used in this advert (the steel background with the Red Symbol) denotes a solid/powerful persona of the group. It also attributes to their band name 'Fighters'.

•This persona is also suggested through the contrasting colours - The red, black and grey, the explosive red makes the symbol stand out as though making a statement - 'BUY ME'The main image is central which makes it the main focal point.

• Details about the release date and the album are at the bottom of the page, using white text to contrast the black background. The details at the bottom suggest that they main intention is to sell the brand image and once the audience is captivated they will then gaze their eyes down to details about the album and how they can purchase it.

•The omission of the artists face again suggests that the brand image is more important and is what the advert is trying to sell (along with the album)

J Shin•This R&B advert aims to promote the artist and the album. An image of the artist is placed adjacent to the album content which supports my theory that the advert is trying to sell both features

•J Shin is elegantly dressed, the clean attire is typical of the R&B genre and helps to promote his image across his audience. His attire compliments the background , suggesting that he is comfortable in this environment, which connotates the relaxed nature of the R&B genre

•His name is in a bold, large white font which stands out and amplifying his name.

• The interior of a luxurious aeroplane is used as a background image which promotes his statues in the R&B genre., as it suggest wealth and importance.•There is black strip along the bottom of the advert which separates the additional features (featuring artists, contact details ,logos) from the main attraction for presentational purposes.

•J Shin is communicating withthe audience, on a personal level, as he is looking directly at the camera , somewhat telling them to buy his album. The open shirt is also used to appeal to the female audience, as he sells his image, which is typical of the R&B genre.

RaeKwon•RaeKwon is Hip Hop artist and member of the Hip Hop group Wu-Tang Clan. This advert aims to portray the artist as royal. This royalty is shown through the use of purple which is commonly associated with royalty.

•The background image is a close up of RaeKwon, this combined with the purple tint sells him as royal and promotes him with high statues in the genre.

•The advert has an urban essence, the text is in a mystical font which makes the advert seem spiritual, as though it is sending a message to the public as opposed to just informing them of the release.

• The is Intertextuality as the features the album cover which allows the audience to easily identify the album if they were to see it on the store shelf. A quote and rating is used to help promote the album as it is being recommended by another individual.

•Artists that feature in the album are written on the advert, this allows a foreign audience who may not be aware of RaeKwon to relate to his album as it may feature an artist they know, inviting them to purchase album as they may be familiar with the named artists.
