The birth of a hero.June 19, 1861 Moonlit night of
Wednesday, in lakeshore town of Calmba , Laguna Rizal was born
His mother almost died during the delivery because of his big head.

June 22, 1861 at the age of 3 days old he was baptized at the Catholic church of his town

His name “Jose” was chosen by his mother who was a devotee of the Christian St.Joseph (San Jose)
Father Collantes was impressed by the baby’s big head and told the members of the family who were present “ Take good care of this child, for someday he will become a great man” . Hs word was prophetic, as confirmed by subsequent event

Born in Biñan, Laguna on May 11, 1818 studied Latin and Philosophy at the College of San Jose in Manila became a tenant farmer of the Dominican-owned hacienda a hardy and independent-
minded man, who talked less and worked more, and was strong in body and valiant in spirit Rizal affectionately called him “ a model of fathers”
