THIS WEEK IN SUNDAY SCHOOL

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

For those students who attend Sunday School

today, we are beginning our winter unit, entitled  "God Sends His Son to Save Us." With thanksgiving we hear the story of "The Birth of John Foretold." For as Jesus said in Luke 16:16, "The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is preached."

Heartfelt thanks from all at Cup of Cool Water for the many wonder ful b l a n k e t s a n d o t h e r

accessories donated to help keep Cup's youth a bit more comfortable as the weather gets colder.  Know your kind generosity is a huge blessing to God's work downtown!  :)

ADVENT FELLOWSHIP

As Lutherans we have a long tradition of gathering together for a fellowship meal of soup and bread before midweek prayer services. It’s a tradition worth retaining but in the hustle of everyday life, it can prove challenging. This year we are trying something new.

• We are looking for your favorite recipes! If you have a recipe for a delicious soup you would like to share with your fellow parishioners, submit it to either Jackie or Kim TODAY! With your suggestions, we will make some menus and do the shopping.

• On December 2 after second service, we are hosting a work party to assemble soups for the midweek meals. All are welcome! Man, woman, young, & old - we can chop, sauté, measure and assemble our shared midweek meals.

• On the Wednesdays of Advent, (Dec. 5, 12, 19) we will have the soups going in crockpots at the church ready for our meal together that evening.

Mark your calendars and

dig out your recipes!

After the triumphant return of the Christmas Store last year, we are eager to get started collecting items for this year's store. We are collecting new, gently used, or handmade items for children to purchase as Christmas gifts for their family and friends. We are also collecting quart-sized canning jars to be used for cookie mixes. Shoppers will include ELC and congregation children. We need gifts for parents, grandparents, and siblings. If you have a donation to make, just leave it by the office for the ELC. Thanks, as always for your support!

KOINONIA BOOKSTORE

CHRISTMAS CARDS AVAILABLE FOR SALE

The Koinonia Bookstore is located on the east wall of the Fellowship Hall. Items for sale are on the counter. KOINONIA is the Greek word for fellowship. The Koinonia Bookstore is predominantly a greeting card ministry. It provides the “family” at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church the means to support each other in times of celebration, times of sorrow and times of encouragement. When we remember others in the gifting of a card we are in fellowship with them. All proceeds from the Koinonia Bookstore sales are returned directly back to the Bookstore to purchase additional merchandise. Questions or comments please contact Candy Tusler at 245.3433 or [email protected].

The 2019 Offering Envelopes are here! Check your mail box in the fellowship hall. Some of you will have a new envelope # for next year; if you have questions or did not get a box of envelopes and would like one, let Janie know.

Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.

Proverbs 3:9-10

I am looking for someone who can work in the office in the mornings from Jan 26-Feb 1 and Feb 4-8. We have coverage for the afternoons already and most of the regular work will be done before I go on vacation. If you can help even one morning, that will be helpful. Call me, 7 4 7 - 6 8 0 6 , o r e m a i l m e , [email protected], if you would be willing to help.

Blessings, Janie

Once again the Worship and Music C o m m i t t e e , w i t h P a s t o r P a c e ’s concurrence, has had to make a decision regarding the locations of the flags and t h e b a p t i s m a l f o n t ( e s p e c i a l l y recognizing safety issues). The flags will be at the front with the American flag on the left of the Pastor’s bench and the Christian flag on the right of the Acolyte’s bench. The font will be in front of the pulpit. The committee respectfully asks that individuals not move such items on their own.
