This workshop will discuss further the new effective approach in the treatment of mental health, substance abusers, and co-occurring and will provide participants with an opportunity to explore creative ways of integrating these approaches into an effective therapeutic intervention. This course will provide both useful theoretical models and hands-on opportunities to improve motivational interviewing skills Learning objectives: A brief review and practice of Motivational Interviewing spirit, structure and some basic skills (OARS). Re assess Motivational Interviewing skills and phase. Participants will learn about "change talk" and methods of eliciting and strengthen the change theory. Review basic Motivational Interviewing principles: o Spirit o Opening Strategies (OARS) o Change Talk/ Sustain Talk o Rolling with Resistance o Change Plans and Commitment Language How Motivational Interviewing overlaps with other therapeutic methods. Ethical concerns of using Motivational Interviewing. Giving information and offering advice. Looking at the readiness ruler of importance, confidence and energy - How to increase confidence as the second dimension of motivation.
