BBuilding the Foundation for Industry Growth y 2006, improvements in solar technology and challenges to the nation’s energy supply were driving significant growth in the market for grid-tie rooftop solar. However, available roof mounting systems were unsophisticated and untested, dooming many homeowners to premature leaks and potentially threatening industry growth.

Quick Mount PV was founded that year on the principle that the mounting system is just as critical in determining a solar system’s success as modules and inverters. After all, a non-functional or inefficient system is a problem; a roof leak is a crisis.

The company’s first innovation was the QBlock Elevated Water Seal. The initial application of this patented tech-nology was in the Classic Composition Mount, released in 2006 and the industry’s best-selling solar roof mount ever since.

2011 saw the release of QBase, a base-and-post mounting technology with unrivaled strength to support higher standoff posts for a variety of roof types and situations.

The company introduced its third technology platform in 2012, QHook, for tile roofs. Quick Hook combines great strength and a high degree of adjustability, and eliminates the need for tile penetration.

Quick Mount PV’s focus on American-made quality led to ISO 9001:2008 certification in January, 2013. All Quick Mount PV products meet or exceed roofing best practices, are approved by leading roofing manufacturers, and are 100 percent compliant with the International Building Code.

The company’s pioneering efforts have been widely acknowledged. In the words of SolarPro magazine, Quick Mount PV’s “product development and education related to code-compliant array mounting and penetration water-proofing has had a fundamental impact on the industry.”1

Q uick Mount PV revolutionized rooftop solar mounting in 2006 when it introduced the Classic Composition Mount. The underlying technology, the patented QBlock Elevated Water Seal, has since been proven in thousands of installations.

QBlock InnovationOther roof mounts seal the bolt holes in the flashing with a rubber seal mounted directly against the flashing at the water level. A leak is almost inevitable as the seal slowly deteriorates in the harsh roofing environment. Quick Mount PV’s patented QBlock uses an aluminum flute to elevate the EPDM rubber seal above the flashing and out of harm’s way.

The cast-aluminum QBlock completely encloses the rubber seal, shielding the sealing area from the ravages of rain, ice and UV exposure, and minimizing stresses on the rubber seal caused by thermal- and wind-induced movement of the solar array. A secondary rubber seal provides a final measure of safety.

Q uick Mount PV developed QBase to provide a strong and versatile mounting solution for installations with high standoffs.

QBase InnovationTypical base-and-post mounting systems lose structural integrity when standoffs exceed a few inches. The QBase has a super-strong cast aluminum foundation with four gussets to support standoff posts from 3.75 to 12 inches. The single base for all post heights reduces the number of components needed for a wide variety of roof types and installations.

QBase ApplicationsWhen standoffs get higher than several inches, such as with installations on curved tile and commercial built-up or insulated low slope roofs, QBase’s superior strength and proven waterproofing provide decades-long confidence.
