Advancing His Kingdom International August / September 2016

In the past month and half we have been on a continual journey seeing God’s blessings. In early August, Darleen and I had the opportunity to honor 4 adults who had not missed any classes of our Steps To The Future Academy “Adult Educational Program”. We are very thankful to our STTF head teacher, Enos, and our grade 1 teacher, Erick, for their dedication to provide for “free” adult educational classes every Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Parents in our community have been given the opportunity to learn reading and writing in Kiswahili and in English.

. In mid-August, through the financial support to AHK, we were able to host the 5-day J-Life East Africa Summit at our AHKI ministry center. What a blessing to have J-Life Africa Country Leaders and their Key Regional Leader(s) from Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, DRC, Uganda, Kenya and our “in training” leader from South Sudan. We were also blessed to have John Abrahamse and Dave Even, of the International team leaders from South Africa.

Early September is always an exciting time for us being its our Birthdays and Anniversary! The kids at the STTF Academy gave me a huge blessing by singing, praying and giving me a BIG GROUP HUG. Then we surprised Darleen on her birthday with ROSES, ROSES & MORE ROSES! And of course we had a wonder meal out for our 41st Anniversary. Big hug to our Makayla for all the love, work and support she has been to us while she is here

Note From Shane Carter – AHKI Board Member Supporters of AHKI I was able to go to Kenya this past spring to visit with my dear friends Billy & Darleen Honc. As you know a significant part of their ministry in Africa is providing Christian education to the children of the impoverished region in which they reside. I was so impressed with the STTFA facilities, teachers and children and can tell you that education being providing is top notch. The parents of the children who are able to attend the school are so appreciative of the opportunity. For most of these families they are simply not able to send their children to the public school for multiple reasons. The STTFA is making a dramatic impact in the lives of these families. I can assure you that contributed funds are going directly to support these amazing kids.

I had on my heart for some time to work with AHKI to provide for a platform that would allow us here in the United States feel more connected with these children and I am pleased to let you know that we have launched a new sponsorship program through a company called Pure Charity. This sponsorship platform will allow friends and supporters of AHKI to make an individual connection with the children at STTF. It is vitally important that AHKI be able to continue in providing these kids with the needed education, uniforms, boots and other supplies and they desperately need. Not to mention that the school is also providing quality employment to some amazing teachers and administrators. The benefits of this investment are being felt throughout the community. The Kenyans know that Americans have provided the funds for the school and this knowledge and the work of our Lord continues to open up opportunities for ministry and outreach in the region.

I am calling us all to action by asking every reader to consider sponsoring one or more of these amazing kids. We have already begun the sponsorship drive and are encouraged by the progress but there is much more to do. The sponsorship of one child is only $20 per month and it makes a tremendous difference in these kids lives!. I saw first hand what the investment means to real people and families when I visited this past spring.
