‘A very useful report with stacks of useful information.’Richard Trim, Hampshire County Council

Choose from four Adult Social Care clubsIn response to the challenges you’re facing, CIPFA have focused on the key issues in adult social care. Aimed at finance managers, services managers and commissioners, you can choose from four clubs:

1) CIPFA Residential and Nursing Care Benchmarking Club

2) CIPFA Early Intervention, New Approaches & Efficiencies Benchmarking Club

This club looks at the activities undertaken by authorities to actively provide better support to clients and manage their costs. The club therefore has a wide range, covering early intervention, transition from childrens services, the structure of care management teams and many other topics where authorities are looking at how to provide a smarter or more efficient service.

3) CIPFA Self Directed Support Benchmarking Club

This club provides you with the help you need in implementing individual budgets and getting the most out of them. It seeks to answers many of the questions raised at social care conferences and meetings for the last six years, and for which, up to now, there has been little data available.

4) CIPFA Personal Social Services Expenditure Reports – PSS Ex1

Our PSS Ex1 reports give you a comprehensive analysis of the data provided in the PSS Ex1 data set, as released by the Department of Health’s Information Centre. Unlike our standard benchmarking clubs, this analysis requires no workload on your part.

‘The meetings enable best practice and consistency to be discussed across the Council’s returns and is a good platform for support and networking.’Christina Marshall, Senior Accountant, Surrey

How do the clubs work? The Adult Social Care Benchmarking Clubs follow a proven, formula to ensure you get the most from the process. Help is available whenever you need it, and the process is managed by CIPFA Benchmarking to ensure the highest standards. Here’s how they work:

Each year, a steering committee decides what to benchmark.

Data is then collected through user-friendly questionnaires.

Draft reports are sent out allowing quick feedback and for you to check and amend figures if needed.

The data is validated and sent to you as a final report.

Review meeting gives you the opportunity to discuss issues in detail with club members from other authorities.

‘The analysis provided as part of the CIPFA Benchmarking Club has proved extremely valuable over the past few years. The unit cost and composition analysis has directly contributed to the way we commission services, and the ongoing monitoring reports support our value for money assurance arrangements. The team are always on hand to provide support wherever needed and have been responsive to considering and implementing developments with the dataset.’ Andrew McLean, Commissioning & Partnerships, Lincolnshire
