Program FeesResident Fees and Member FeesYou may notice some of our programs are listed with multiple fees. Each fee is determined by whether you are a Burlington resident and/or if you are a Burlington Seniors’ Member. If you are 55 years of age or over and plan to take more than one program in a week, it may be to your advantage to become a Burlington Seniors’ Member. All programs that take place at the Burlington Seniors’ Centre between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday require a membership (excluding summer programs). R = Resident feeM = Member feeNon-residents will pay an extra premium to register for programs. Non-resident fee is $8 plus HST where applicable more than the published resident fee (R) and member fee (M). All fees include tax unless otherwise indicated.

Drop-In TicketsUnless otherwise noted, Burlington Seniors’ Members may use drop-in tickets for admission to adult 19+ and 55+ drop-in programs throughout City of Burlington facilities. Drop-in tickets can be purchased at the Burlington Seniors’ Centre, Tansley Woods Community Centre and Brant Hills Community Centre. $2 per ticket or $20 for 11 tickets. Resident fee for drop-in programs varies by program. Please refer to the program for fee information.

Try a program for freeThe City of Burlington is proud to offer adult programs for 55+ throughout the city. We offer something for everyone including arts, crafts, continual learning, sports, fitness, cards, games, music and dance. We open our doors to you and offer a free “Try-It”. If you would like to see what we are all about and not sure which one of our programs best suits your needs, come in and try the program. This offer is good once for each program. If you choose to “Try-It”, come in and visit our customer service desk for further information. All levels and skills are welcome to our programs unless stated in the description. “Try It” opportunities vary based on program capacity and availability.

General Information• Current membership required to participate in all programs during the Fall, Winter and Spring at the Burlington Seniors Centre. A membership provides you with a discount at all our other facilities. Please renew your membership prior to registration.• Programs will be cancelled, if necessary, due to insufficient registration, one week prior to the first class.• If you are able, please park further away from main entrances to leave the main parking lot available for those who are not able to walk long distances.• Please do not enter rooms until five minutes prior to the start of your program and vacate no later than five minutes after the end of your program. Time and space are required for set up and take down.• When you are on a wait list and are notified that a spot has become available for you, you have 48 hours to respond to us. After that time, the next person on the wait list will be offered the spot. Please provide us with your email address to notify you when a spot becomes available.• As a courtesy to members with allergies, it is requested that you refrain from using perfume, cologne or other scented products when attending classes.

Burlington Seniors’ Centre

Burlington Seniors’ Membership InformationMembership Fee is $39.82 per year. Membership is required to participate in registered and drop-in programs at the Burlington Seniors’ Centre. Members receive a discount for adult 19+ and 55+ programs city wide.

During the summer, a membership is not required to participate in programs at the Burlington Seniors’ Centre.

In Person1. Registrations can be processed in person at

any City Facility. 2. Complete your registration form with all

required information. Ensure you read the release, refund procedure and refund policy on the back of the form.

3. Bring your completed form to the Customer Service Desk

4. Payment can be made by Cash, Cheque (made out to “City of Burlington”), Interac Debit, Visa, Mastercard, American Express.

5. If you have a valid email address on file, your receipt will be sent to you, if not a paper copy will be provided.

Program RegistrationRegistering for ProgramsClient ID and Family PIN must be obtained at least two days prior to registration day.

RecExpress – Online 1. Go to www.burlington.ca, hover over the Live

and Play tab, then click on Register (on the right hand side).

2. Select the Login button in the top right hand corner. Login using your Client ID and Family PIN.

3. Find your program by entering the TTR number in the search box on the left or search by program or category using the Browse categories option.

4. If entering the TTR number, a new window will open that shows the course. You can select this course by clicking “Add”.

5. If searching by program category, once you have found your program, click “Show Courses” then, select the course you want by clicking “Add”.

6. Select which person you would like registered in this program from the drop down box.

7. Once registered you can either register for more programs by selecting “Continue Shopping” or if you are finished with registering you can select “Go to Checkout”.

8. If you have a credit balance on your City of Burlington account, you may use it towards your registration fee. Otherwise, payment must be made by Visa, Mastercard or American Express. Select which credit card you will be using in the down box beside “card type” and enter your card number and expiry date.

9. The liability waiver will appear for your review. Selecting “agree” will act as your electronic signature. You will now have the option to print your receipt or, if you have a valid email address on file, an electronic email will be generated.

10. Please ensure you Logout of RecExpress once you have completed all of your program registrations.

Drop-In Group Fitness Class Descriptions for Adults 19+Various locations

Aquafit and Landfit classes are drop-in, no registration required.Admissions fees and important dates, see pages 14.Our instructor led drop-in fitness programs can accommodate all fitness levels. Daytime schedule in effect at Aldershot Pool from February to March. For up-to-date information visit our website at burlington.ca/calendar.

Aquafit Class Descriptions

Aqua ArthritisWork your body in a comfortable, joint-friendly way! Our trained instructors will lead you through exercises to increase circulation, decrease muscle tension and spasm, nourishing your joints and aiding to prolong their ability to function normally.

Aqua Boot CampInterval cardio based workout with varying intensity and equipment to increase strength and aerobic endurance in chest deep area of the pool.

Deep AquafitSafe and effective exercise routines are presented in an easy to follow format with upbeat music. Participants are suspended in deep water. Aqua float belts are supplied.

Gentle AquafitThis program is geared to individuals looking to strengthen and train their body at a lower intensity. Focus will be on range of motion for joints, muscle conditioning, balance and postural training.

Shallow AquafitDesigned for both swimmers and non-swimmers. This is an excellent workout for aerobic and muscular fitness without the risk that accompanies high impact. Participants will work at their own pace. Safe and effective exercise routines are presented in an easy to follow format with upbeat music.

Landfit Class Descriptions

Cardio SculptIncludes a warm-up followed by cardiovascular training using a variety of aerobic movements and patterns. The class will use hand weights for an effective muscle conditioning/strength component. Finish off with tension reducing stretches.

Interval TrainingThis class alternates cardiovascular heart health training with equally important muscle conditioning/strength exercises. Followed with a great all over stretch. All levels are welcome.

Walk/Tone/StretchAerobic walking and/or running around the gym using various arm movements and foot patterns followed by toning, relaxation, breathing and stretching exercises. This class is for all levels.

PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT SENIORS’ RELEASE FORM

In consideration of permission to use the property, facilities, staff, equipment and services of the Corporation of the City of Burlington, I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, personal representatives, or assigns, or as the legal guardian of the minor registrant, do hereby release, indemnify and save harmless, waive, and forever discharge the City of Burlington, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers and agents from liability from any and all claims resulting in personal injury, accidents or illnesses (including death) and property loss arising from, but not limited to, participation in activities, classes, observation, and use of facilities, premises, or equipment. I further authorize the City of Burlington to obtain any medical care deemed necessary in the event of an injury and agree to pay for any resulting medical expenses.

REFUND PROCEDURE • Fill out and submit a ‘Transfer/Withdrawal’ form. • Refunds will be either a credit on your Parks & Recreation Account or a cheque issued

within approximately 15 business days. • Refunds for payments made by credit card will be credited back to the appropriate credit

card.

REFUND POLICY • Full refunds will be issued after the 1st class. • Refunds will be prorated after commencement of the 2nd class. • Refunds will be prorated to the date of the request and not on the date of last class

attended. • Refunds requested after the start of the third class require coordinator approval. • Refunds will not be issued for one day programs such as, but not limited to, workshops and

Breakfast at the Bistro. • DAY TRIPS: Please note there are no refunds or waitlists for Day Trips. Trip registrations

are transferable but it is up to the registrant to find their replacement. If you decide to transfer your trip registration, please inform the customer service at the Burlington Seniors’ Centre immediately. It is extremely important that we supply a complete and correct roster to the trip coordinator.
