Michelle Obama launched a mentoring program on Nov 2, 09 focused on
Creating a bridge between kids and the possibilities that can propel them to greatness.
Our studio worked closely with thefirst lady to adapt this program to a New York City Soho
storefront.
The New York City branch of the program is a comprehensive 12 month long program that focuses on
providing leadership trainning to young girls from low income publicly subsidized housing comunities in NYC.
Their main focus is in strenghtening their public speaking skills and all underlined strenghts that entail public
speaking; leadership, education, intercultural counselling and personal support; with the ultimate goal of provid-
ing career opportunities to better their future.
Design:
Our studio focused on integrating the historical reference and community awareness of thefirst lady as a
foundation to the design. A comfortable yet challenging blend of contemporary, antique, elegant, and honest in a
juxstaposition between neo classical styles and modern materialities.

Our studio has designed an enfolding space for students to live
and work on a rotating basis. Its a community gathering place
that inspires, evokes creative thinking and passive design modali-
ties. Design deals with people and impacts their mindset, the rib-
bon motif provides a visual and functional connection between
ideas and spaces.

freestyle living.
I cant wait to wake up in the morning...
A lot of times I cant sleep because I
cant wait to try something new.
How many people never really experience
that feeling?

Playing for Change is a multimedia movement created
to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world
through music. The idea for this project arose
from a common belief that music has the power to
break down boundaries and overcome distances be-
tween people.
Our design studio was given the task to provide a
space for these musicians and recorders to rest
and hang out, and what better place than the epi-
themy of street performers, the NYC Subway. Our
studio built a mobile resting space for this rotary
musicians.
Apple New York as part of their Playing for Change
Foundation philanthropic efforts decided to add
our recordings to their major marketing campaigns.

Apple has launched a new program in coordination with Play-
ing for Change. For the ultimate in micro-hoteling, this fully in-
sulated, recycled MTA subway car # r41 is fully equipped with
shower, bathroom, kitchen and living area with more than enough
space to fit 26 bed pods.
This hotel is one of several temporary structures that our stu-
dio has designed in conjunction with Apple Stores and Playing
for Change.
Zpods are stackable, prefab sleep pods. Each pod is ready for
sleeping , containing a bed, and air conditioning. Designed ex-
ploring the most efficient use of space and recycled materials.
At $40 a night. Traveling performers check-in via an Apple station
located in the ground floor of the subway station, next to the
Police station and upon payment are provided with a Pod Key.
The subway cart was completely refurbished using the same and
new recycled materials.
With all the ambience of a submarine, the pod is intended to just
provide you with a comfortable place to take a quick nap or an
overnight stay.
