1933 Election Campaign: Ballot for the Reichstag Election in the Hesse-Darmstadt Electoral District (March 5, 1933)

Below is a ballot for the Reichstag election in the Hesse-Darmstadt electoral district. The National Socialist German Workers' Party tops the ballot. Next comes the Social Democratic Party (2), followed by the Communist Party (3), the German Center Party (4), Battlefront Black-White-Red (5), the German People's Party (7), the Christian Social People's Service (8), the German State Party (9), and the German Farmers' Party (10).

are voted into the Reichstag, over 6 million votes (18.3%).

• 1932 Hitler runs against Pres.Paul von Hindenburg (85 yrs old).

• Hitler got 13.5 million votes (37.2%).

• Hindenburg won re-election with 19 million votes.

• Enabling Act, March 23, 1933 gives law making power to Chancellor not Reichstag.

• Hitler outlawed labor unions. No more strikes. Burned books. banned political parties.

• Massacre on June 30, 1934.

• All SA who helped burn down the Reichstag were killed.

Undesirable SA men were killed (3,000), including Ernst Roehm the leader. (offered suicide).
