IntroductionThe purpose of this note is to document the update of Adobe CC 17 October 2017 release on myWindows 10 desktop PC and to set out a method for doing so that may be followed by others shouldthey wish. The general approach is:
Audit what you’ve got in terms of system, file locations and settings – do you know whereeverything is so you can check what has changedTest what you’ve got – are you sure everything is workingBackup what you’ve got – in case things go wrongPerform the updateCheck file locations – this seems to be an issue with the NIK Collection and Adobe CCupdatesTest what you’ve got – is it all still workingIf NIK Collection isn’t working then troubleshoot by searching internet forumsIf all else fails restore your backup!
Note if you have an earlier version of Microsoft Windows then file locations may be different. Againif you use an Apple Mac then the system will be quite different but the general approach should be aguide to help you update your machine.

Creative Cloud AppThe apps shown below are due to be updated; but before this can be safely done then we need toknow what the before upgrading baseline state of the system and software is.
Note Bridge CC updated as I judged that this would have no effect on NIK Collection Functionality

Prior to UpdateThings can and do go wrong when updating/upgrading software so it is always wise to do at leastone of these 2 things:
1. Create a windows restore point for the drive where your Operating System and Program Filesare located by:
a. Typing “Control Panel” in the “Search Windows” Dialog box normally in the bottom left
hand corner of the screenb. Select “Control Panel” when it appears in the search resultsc. Then go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Recovery which displays this screen
d. Click on Configure System Restore and this window appears:
e. You will see from the above image that the C Drive has system protection turned on. Ifyou do not have protection turned on for your machine then click on the “Configure…”button to set this up.
f. Click on the “Create…” button and give the restore point a name eg “Prior to Adobe CCOctober 2017 update” then Click on the “Create” button.
g. When the restore point has been created you will see this message
press “Close” and close allother dialogue boxes & windows
2. Clone the drive(s) that contains your machine’s operating system and program files.Instructions on doing this are beyond the scope of this document!
Updating your System1. Open the Adobe CC App
2. Click on “Update All”
3. This window is displayed decide whichoptions you require - see notes below - then click on “Update”
a. You may wish to be cautious and leave the old versions in place until after you’vecompleted your testing. You can then remove the old versions via the Adobe CC App atyour leisure.
b. This has been received from “The Lightroom Queen (Victoria Bampton)https://www.lightroomqueen.com/ specifically about Lightroom Classic CC 7.0 Beforeyou jump to upgrade, a word of warning is in order. Performance is a tricky thing.Making a feature faster on one computer can make it slower on another, and thecode changes are so widespread, it can create bugs in seemingly unrelated areas.I’d recommend exercising a little caution because opening a catalog into 7.0upgrades the catalog format, so you can’t easily roll back to 2015.12 if you runinto problems. Lightroom 7.0 can be installed alongside Lightroom CC 2015, soif you’re an early adopter, perhaps test it using a clean catalog beforeupgrading your main working catalog, just in case. I’ll compile the earlyfeedback into a blog post over the next week or two.
4. The updates have now been installed
