CCMH PROGRAM STANDARDS CCMH is well known within our profession and clinic owners are aware of the high quality of MTs that graduate from CCMH. We prepare our students to become leaders in the profession. Our program is recognized by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO), the College of Massage Therapists of New Brunswick (CMTNB), the College of Massage Therapists of Newfoundland (CMTNL), and graduates are eligible to take their provincial licensing examinations with any of these regulatory bodies. We offer an intensive course that prepares our students to write and successfully pass these qualifying exams. CCMH’s program is designed to exceed the minimum standards and requirements of our profession’s regulators, thereby allowing our graduates to practice in any province and most regions outside Canada. Students are recommended to confirm the specific requirements for the province or region in which they wish to practice, if known, prior to entering the program. Graduates from CCMH who successfully complete qualifying exams in any legislated province (currently BC, ON, NB, PE, & NL) are eligible to work coast to coast in Canada.

SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS POLICY

Early in the admissions process, we encourage applicants to discuss any learning challenges, including limited physical or learning abilities. By doing so, we can provide pre-admissions counselling, including advice regarding funding sources which may assist with tuition or in obtaining necessary learning tools such as technological equipment, tutorials, and other learning aids.

Special needs must be indicated by completion of the Special Accommodations Request form, found on the CCMH website. Special needs must also be documented in a detailed assessment with specific recommendations made by a medical doctor, psychiatrist, or psychologist.

The document must include the following: a) General observations by the medical doctor, psychiatrist, or psychologist b) A description of the impact on the student’s functions c) Identification of standardized tests and assessments performed d) Results of tests and assessments e) Recommendations for the student and the rationale for each

CCMH will do its best to accommodate students who have diagnosed and documented special needs that are disclosed during the admissions process, although we may be unable to meet all recommendations. Special needs not disclosed during the admissions process may not be accommodated. To qualify for special accommodations with the CMTO, CMTNB, CMTNL, or other regulatory body, the graduate must have qualified for the same while at CCMH. However, having special accommodations granted at CCMH does not guarantee that they will be granted by these or other regulators. Visit the individual regulator’s website for further information.

PREPARATORY COURSES All applicants must successfully complete an Introduction to Massage Therapy course of a minimum of 14 hours in duration as a prerequisite to our Massage Therapy program. CCMH offers an Introduction to Massage Therapy weekend course at various times throughout the year. The course is practical and hands-on. student applicants, CCMH also offers an online Medical Terminology & Body Systems course free of charge. Again, to enroll, please contact the Admissions Department.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE All applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the year. Early enrollment is encouraged, as classes are small and can quickly reach capacity. A complete application, which meets all requirements, does not constitute a guarantee of acceptance. The deadline for applications is one month prior to the start of the program for which you are applying. Some exceptions, including prior learning or transfer students, may apply. In exceptional cases, with a documented reason, a maximum one-week late start will be considered. Applicants are asked to consider our attendance policy which requires full attendance in all classes, including orientation on the first day of the program.

If you do not have an official high school diploma or equivalency, and are 18 years of age or older, a Wonderlic test will be administered by the college at the cost of $20 to the applicant. Successful completion of the Wonderlic test may serve as equivalency to high school completion for the purposes of the admissions process. If you are unsuccessful after the first attempt, you may be granted a second attempt. If you are again unsuccessful with the Wonderlic test, it is presumed you would not be successful in the Massage Therapy Diploma Program.
