Type of Examination Subjective MCQ Reform?
IIT Delhi Senate Vs IIT Council
Why is IIT Faculty upset?
Broader issue of IIT autonomy• Sole authority lies with Senates: Changes should be
bottom up rather than top down
• More or less came as ‘diktat’ from IIT council
• When pointed out, HRM says IIT Council..IIT
Council…IIT Council ………………∞
Autonomy issue
• Majority Senate views disregarded by IIT Council
• IITs to follow NIT type of scheme after 2015; Gross violation of views of IITs
• Not allowed for matter to be referred back to Senates
Possible solutions
• Nothing less than IIT Delhi Senates Resolution which is also in toto acceptable to IIT K and IIT B. IITR and IIT Kgp to follow.
• Or IIT Delhi conducts its own JEE in coordination with like minded IITs
Thank You
Presentation possible with inputs from colleagues at IIT Delhi and other IITs
The IITs Senate views must form the basis for the final formulation of the admission processes. It is shocking to see that till today the Senates views have not even been invited in this regard.
